It was the following morning and Vance had gotten hardly any sleep. He was too busy tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep from all the yelling between his mother and father. He tried to block the noise out, he really did but nothing would work so he grabbed his headphones, turned his music up on full blast and layed back down. Every yell and scream only reminded him of his earlier childhood, a childhood full of pain and sadness for the young boy. All he ever wanted was a happy family but of course his dad has to ruin it with his drinking.

Walking through the gates all Vance's mind was set on was trying not to fall asleep. He walked up to his locker, about to grab something he needed for his first class when he sensed someone behind him. He spun around quickly to see Bruce. Thank God it was him. "hey V, excited for English?" Bruce spoke sarcastically with a smile, knowing Vance hates english. After seeing no reaction from Vance he knew something was up since he always has some snarky comment afterwards. "You feeling okay?" Rubbing his eyes Vance spoke "Yeah just didn't get much sleep last night". More like no sleep. "oh, why not?" Bruce kept asking questions and it only made Vance feel even more tired to the point he could've fell asleep that very moment. He lightly swayed back and almost fell if Bruce didn't grab his arm. "Yeah you definitely need sleep, you're acting like a zombie right now" Bruce giggled lightheartedly while taking Vance to the bathroom. Vance complied with Bruce and followed him, not having the energy to do really anything else.

They walked in to find that the bathroom was empty, which was perfect. Bruce guided Vance over to the corner of the room and placed both his and Vances bags down then proceeded to sit down themselves. "Wanna share why you can't sleep or nah?" Bruce asked, looking at vance. He had horrible dark eye bags that could've been mistaken as eye shadow, and sad dull-looking eyes. Vance felt utterly exhausted as he ran his hand through his hair. "Family shit, my fucking dad just can't stop being a dickhead". "Oh, im sorry" Bruce replied staring at the floor, not really knowing what to say next. "Don't apologise, it's not you're fault he's a fucking piece of shit".The blonde boy rested his head on Bruce's shoulder and sighed deeply as if he was exhaling all the stress buried within him. Vance wasn't exactly a physical contact kinda guy, but this was an exception. They stayed in each others company for awhile, Vance fast asleep with Bruces arm around him. To pass time Bruce scrolled through numerous apps and games on his phone but that got boring pretty fast. His phone made a 'click' sound as it was turned off and put back into his pocket. Bruce sighed lightly and looked down at Vance. He wondered why Vance hadn't been able to sleep, he knew it has something to do with his home life but he wasn't sure specifically what about his home life made him so uneasy. He didn't want Vance to feel uncomfortable with lots of questions so he kept them to himself.

A couple lessons had went by and Vance had only just awoken, opening his eyes with a yawn. He got up off of Bruce's shoulder and stretched out his arms. "Slept okay?" Bruce asked the recently awoken boy, earning a satisfied head nod. "What times it?" Vance asked rubbing his eyes awake."uhhh almost the end of second period i think" Bruce replied, checking his phone. "i think im gonna go now. You coming?" Vance spoke standing up. Bruce stayed quiet. "Well??" Vance asked looking down at Bruce. "Like skipping school?" Bruce asked, whispering the 'skipping' part. "Why the fuck are you whispering? No-ones even in here except us" Vance asked giggling. Bruce found it adorable. "How abouuut we just go to class?" Bruce asked, joining Vance on his feet. "But history's sooo borinng" "what would you rather have, a quick 40 minute lesson then having a free period or skipping and risking getting caught" "I've skipped plenty of times, it's no big deal" "well im going to class, you can skip if you want" Vance sighed. "fiiinne I'll go to class but don't expect me to do shit" Bruce laughed. "Okay V".

They walked out into the corridor and began their walk to history when Vance quietly spoke with a smile. "Thanks for letting me sleep back there. I appreciate it" Bruce smiled back. "Anytime vancey" he patted Vance on the back. "Ew don't ever call me that again" Vance said while laughing.
