A few months later

Alex's POV:

It was as few months after the incident. Me and Vada both still went to therapy that her parents offered to pay for me. I basically moved in with them but I feel like a burden so I've been looking for a job so I can help out a bit. I applied at a nearby record store and I'm praying I'll get it.

Me and Vada have been good...I think. We're still taking it slow but everyone at school already knows about us now and we've grown quite fond of each other. I would commit murders for this girl.

We're at school now, me and Nick (who I became friends with) are talking in the cafeteria waiting for Vada to come as well.

''So you really think Juice WRLD is better than Metallica- Nah man just nah''

He nodded his head.

''It is better, Metallica is just a bunch of noise.''

''Okay man don't do James like that.''

''Who the fuck is James?!-''

We got louder.

''THE SINGER AND RYTHM GUITARIST MAN!''

''Dude you-'' He got cut off

''Guys what are you screaming at?''

My giggling girlfriend came to join us and already wished she didn't come here.

''This idiot here thinks Juice WRLD is better than Metallica.''

I said pointing to Nick.

He went to say something but Vada already stopped him.

''I ain't coming in between this discussion....again..''

I laughed and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

''How was class today amor?''

''It was okay, boring as shit though.''

I laughed and put my hand around her waist holding her close to me while having a conversation with Nick, Vada sometimes chiming in.

I got a call from an unknown number so I got up and headed out to pick up. It was the record store. They told me I got the job and started tomorrow. FUCK YES! I went to go tell Vada and Nick the good news and we celebrated together, everyone in the cafeteria looking at us like we're crazy.

My life was getting back on track, I had a great place to stay, I had a job and a beautiful girlfriend. I almost forgot about the incident and my dad already. I was helping Mrs Cavell with cooking while Vada was setting the table. Sometimes she got bored and pinched my butt when her mom wasn't looking and I yelped in shock and her mom would look at me weird...she loved bullying me too much.

''Hey guys I'm home!''

I heard Mr Cavell say from the hall. He came up to Mrs Cavell and gave her a kiss on the cheek while whispering something about how good the food smelled. I just ignored it and went back to cutting vegetables. Vada was done setting the table and helped cook the last bit. As we finished we all sat down and got to eating immediately, Amelia being the first to fill her plate of course.

''So I got some pretty exciting news.''

I said as I put my fork down to tell everyone.

''I got the job at the record store, I start tomorrow.''

They all smiled.

''That's great Alex!''

Amelia said first. Mr Cavell went to pat me on the back.

''I'm proud of you boy.''

I nodded a thank you and held back some tears. No father figure has ever said that to me before. Vada had noticed and put a reassuring hand on my thigh. I looked at her and smiled.

When we had finished dinner I went upstairs with Vada.

''You okay?''

was the first thing she asked as I closed the door. I nodded and some tears started flowing down.

''Yeah just-...N-no father figure has ever told me that he was proud of me before..''

She went up to hug me.

''I didn't know you saw my dad as a father figure. It's cute.''

I chuckled and nodded.

''Yeah well he's the first to actually act like one in my life so.''

She wiped my tears with her thumb and went on her tippy toes to kiss my forehead.

''You're so small.''

I giggled. She gave me a death glare and I just gave her a kiss to make it up to her. We ended up watching a movie and falling asleep.

It was my first day of work and I was nervous as fuck. I put on some presentable clothes...aka a black T-shirt and some slightly ripped jeans. It was all I had that wasn't too alternative. Vada woke up during all of my pacing around.

''You okay Mi vida?''

I didn't even hear her as I was looking everywhere for my backpack. She got off the bed and held my shoulder making me look at her.

''You're gonna do just great okay, I believe in you.''

That calmed me down enough to remember I put my backpack downstairs. I went to get it, made some lunch and headed out. I got in my truck and drove off to the store.

It was 8.30 and the store opens at 9.30 so that gave me an hour to settle and learn how to do shit. My boss was this nice girl around 25. She had a great taste in music and I had a feeling we'd get along quite well. She gave me the basics: where everything was, how to work the register, how expensive everything is. all that crap. Soon enough it was 9.30 and we were officially open. not a whole lot of people come here so it was pretty quiet for a while til my first costumer came.

It was a guy around my age, he looked shy and had black curly hair. He had headphones in so I didn't wanna bother him til he actually needed something from me. I just kept stocking new vinyls. He eventually got to the register so I went over so he could buy it. He chose an album from Muse. I went to scan it so he could pay. He paid with cash and headed out of the store.

For the rest it kept being quiet. I was on my lunch break right now and Vada texted she was gonna come over to see how I was doing. I was waiting for her while eating my lunch when suddenly the backdoor opened and I saw a small figure coming up to me and hugging me from behind.

''Hey baby.''

She said as she gave me lots of kisses on my face. I giggled at her actions and stopped her so I could give her a kiss. She gladly accepted but when I went to pull away she didn't let me. We ended up kissing in the backroom for a good 2 minutes til she finally pulled away.

''Miss me already I see.''

I teased her. She just gave me a whack on my head as response. I laughed and sat her down on my lap. She hung onto me like a koala while I was telling her about my day. She however had just gotten out of bed so there wasn't much for her to tell me about her day. We ended up just sitting in a comfortable silence as I finished my lunch.

When I had to go back to work she bought a CD of Queen and then went back home but not before giving me over 100 kisses goodbye. We haven't gone so long without each other since the incident and it was affecting both of us a bit but we got through it.

As I got off work I headed home...actually to the Cavell's house but hey its home now. and went up to Vada's room. She was lying in bed watching tiktoks. I put on some sweatpants and a hoodie and joined her. I cuddled up to her and we watched tiktoks til we both fell asleep in each others arms once again. This was a good life I had right now...
