Fuck.

It hurts.

The feeling of the sharp pain in my shoulder snapped me out of my daze, clearing all the strange thoughts that are renting free in my head. This made me sure that all of it is true. The blood seeping through the gauze made me confirm that none of this was an illusion.

Groaning in pain, I opened the small medicinal cabinet above the kitchen sink and started to look for some ibuprofen. Luckily, there was still another one or else I might just die in pain.

I'm sure that the pain I was feeling right now was a gunshot wound. This was exactly what I felt whenever I was shot doing a mission when I was in the military.

Seeing that the wound is still fresh, he might've just been shot yesterday and currently on the leave from his duty.

Seriously, the apocalypse hasn't started yet and here I am, already wounded. Will I still be able to stay alive before the game starts?

Sigh.

"...If I knew I'd be living inside the game, I would have chosen someone luckier."

I've only been here for a few hours yet a lot of unlucky things have already happened to me. First things first, the aching wound in my shoulder. Second, the heater in the bathroom broke while I was taking a bath. Third, I found out that I had nothing to eat and there were only different types of grass inside the fridge. And last but not the least, the one that takes all the cake, my smartwatch showing a hologram that is glowing in black and red lights right in front of my very eyes saying;

[WELCOME PLAYER KANG HYUNJIN!]

[YOU ARE NOW PLAYING AS LT. COL. BENJAMIN ANDERSON.]

[CHAPTER ONE, THE CHAOS, IS STARTING IN A 61 DAYS.]

[PLEASE GET READY BEFORE THE GAME STARTS!]

What a wonderful life I have, right? Damn it.

The only thing I can see in good light in this strange predicament that I'm in is his handsome face and that big little junior down there, not that I'd be using it, but you know, just in case.

Anyways...

Although I'm wounded, I plan to prepare for what I need to survive just like what the fucking message says. I wouldn't want to waste my time just to sit and whine over a small wound waiting for it to heal before doing anything. Doing exactly that is just like asking for death and I still want to live.

And as of now, I am sitting on the sofa of the living room with a map spread out on the coffee table, trying to familiarize myself with the whole place, marking any places that are mentioned even just once in the game. There's also a notebook in my hand so I can write the plot of the story as best as I can remember, listing any crucial points or plots and writing the names of the people that I need to avoid, or to kill, if necessary.

In the whole plot of the game, there are only six people that are necessary for the plot. Those were the people that are included in the character selection. Mason, Caden, Akira, Timothée, Beatrice and me, Benjamin. I'm sure I don't need to worry about them much since they'll survive and eventually, I'll be able to meet them, just like how the story goes. And as much as I want to get acquainted with them immediately, I can't get out of the city where I currently live, the reason being;

[YOU CAN'T GET OUT OF THE CREMONT CITY YET.]

[OTHER CITIES ARE STILL LOCKED.]

Fucking system.

"Ah, this is annoying."

I really was looking forward to meeting Mason, one of the best boxing coaches, but unfortunately, he lives far away. And Benjamin will only be able to meet him at the end of Chapter Two, which will take time.

The reason why I want him, well, for the obvious reason is he is strong. Just like what was written in his stats, his strength is above than anyone else, it exceeds the strength of anyone inside the game. I may be the next strongest person, but don't you just feel reassured that someone is protecting you?

The only character who lives in this same city as me is Caden Gonzales, an Air Force Captain. But he has quite the nasty personality to Benjamin, only to him. So it's a no-no. I'd rather not be with a person with a personality like mine. It will not be good for my mental health.

...Though too bad for me, out of the bunch, he's the first one that I'm sure I'm going to meet.

This just shows how incredible my luck is.

So shitty.

If only it was the luckiest character, Beatrice Garcia, an Orthopedist, I'll really be jumping in joy. Even though she's the weakest of the characters, she was the best person to find food with. With her, even Benjamin with his luck, will be able to find goods like beer, chocolate or such.

She's living just in the next city, so I'm going to meet her before the end of Chapter One. Just thinking about it makes me excited, a human lucky charm to keep me from harm and hunger.

Well, that is on the base that everything will go smoothly as the way it should be.

I just hope that there won't be any unknown variables that will happen. Or I might as just kill myself right now.

After listing everything I needed to do, now, it's time to take action to make sure my plan will be successful.

I reached for my phone and dialed the number of a real estate agency in the city.

"Hello, this is Amanda Jenkins from Homeland Real Estate Agency. How may I help you?"

"Hi, Amanda. I just would like to know if there's any area in the Cremont City with less population? I would like to rent a house and lot, preferably a place that is kind of out of sight from everyone's eyes. Oh, I would really appreciate it if there's a basement. That's all."

"...Oh, uhm, I'll try to look into it, sir."

------

Amanda: ...He's not planning a murder, is he?
