1
The goddess of love,
The beholder of beauty.
Aphrodite is her name
The lover of all,
The helper of some.
What has she done for you?
2
She has loved me.
She has told me I am beautiful.
She has held me when I cried,
She has loved me like a mother.
She has cradled me like a child,
She has avenged my death.
3
The beholder of beauty,
The lover of the world.
She has laid me to rest,
Dressed me in pearls and silk,
Cried my tears when I could not.
4
When I was but a girl,
She stayed.
Now I am just a boy,
She will hold me close.
She has loved me like a mother,
Loved me like a sister,
Helped me fight my battles.
Aphrodite is she.
5
"Dry your tears my love,
Weep for no man
Who cannot even weep for you."
Maybe she doesn't help you,
Maybe you don't see her,
Maybe you don't even know her.
But I do.
She helps me,
I see her light,
I know her.
6
Aphrodite, goddess of love
The beholder of beauty.
I know your name,
You know mine
Why have you stayed?
The lover of all,
The healer to some.
