It had become dark when me and Neteyam met up at our usual spot.
We planned this the day before so we could sneak out without our parents noticing.
I was always curious about their ikrans, especially about how it'd be to ride one, so Neteyam offered me to ride his together.

He called his ikran, who roared and landed next to us in response.
I admired the huge ikran and its patterns.
"What's its name?"
"I named him Eytukan. After my grandfather" Neteyam responded and stroked his ikrans head lovingly.
"Tell me something about your grandfather" I asked him curiously.
"Well, I never got to see him myself, but I heard alot of great things about him.
He used to be the leader of our clan.
I remember my mother telling me how he instructed her to train my father. He's probably the reason my father and mother got together in the first place" Neteyam laughed as I listened intently.

"I'm sure he was a great leader. What happened to him?" I asked.
"He was killed during the destruction of our hometree. All he left was his bow, for my mother. She still has it" He responded.

"I heard of that destruction by the sky people. And now it's coming here."
Neteyam nodded in response.
"My father knows the sky people well. If we do as he says, we'll all be fine.
The sky people aren't after you after all, they're mostly after my father." Neteyam said.
His ikran roared once again.
"Alright, we kept you waiting long enough. Come on, let's go for a ride!" Neteyam shouted excitedly.

He jumped onto his green ikran.
"Take my hand"
I grabbed his hand and so he pulled me onto Eytukan.
"This can get really turbulent, so hold on tightly."
Neteyam told me.
Quickly I grabbed onto him, before the ikran started flying.

I pressed myself onto him in order not to fall off.
His body felt really warm on mine.
"Are you sure about this? I feel like this is a bad idea" I asked Neteyam, now uncertain if this was a mistake.

"It's fine, look" He said as he grabbed my thigh.
"I'll keep my hand here. If I feel you slip away, I'll steady you, alright?"
"Alright" I answered. Thank Eywa he couldn't see my face because I was a flushed mess.

Up in the air, I pressed my face onto his back.
"I want off! This is scarier than expected! Let me off!" I yelled at Neteyam. He just laughed at me in response!

"Calm down, you'll see it's not that bad. Just wait"
And then his ikran started flying forward. I was still pressing my eyes shut.

"It's not that bad, right?" Neteyam said.
"Not that bad? I feel like I'm going to see Eywa tonight!"
And he laughed again.
"Stop laughing at me skxwang!" I yelled at him.
"I can't help it. You're just too cute." I felt my ears perk up. Did I just hear that right? Or am I hallucinating from all the fear?

"Look! The cove of the ancestors! It looks so pretty from here" I pointed, trying to shift the topic.
"We're making progress. You lifted one of your hands" Neteyam responded.
"I guess it isn't so bad after all" I said but quickly regret my words.
He made his ikran speed up in response.
Hastily I tightened my grip around his waist.

"Hell yeah!" Neteyam screamed in excitement as we spun in the air. He pulled me closer to him.

I just screamed the air out my lungs.
"Don't ever do that again, you hear me!"
I yelled at him.
He laughed at me before speaking again.
"Hey, you know what I've been thinking about? It would be pretty cool if you had your own ikran. We could ride together, especially at night.
I see my mom and dad do that alot."

"Maybe someday I'll come visit you and your clan.
Who knows, maybe I can get my own banshee too."
I answered.

"You sure? You'd die of a heart attack even before the banshee tries to kill you" He said.
I punched his back, softly.
"Says the one that got flung off an ilu. They're like the most peaceful and nice creatures there are" I responded, mockingly.
