It was night when Neteyam and I left my home.
I'd experience a whole other world - his world. That scared me and yet I was hopeful. For a new beginning.Soon I'd be the stranded fish on land and Eywa knows if I'll ever be able to adapt there as well as Neteyam did here.
But I'm sure, with his help, it's not impossible.
Neteyam grabbed my shoulder and shook me in excitement.
"I still can't believe you're coming with us!" Neteyam was probably even more excited than I was. I burst out in laughter.
"Let's be fair, any place is better than here." I said but instantly regret my words.
Not the afterlife is better, that is.
I love you grandma but I don't want to see you again anytime soon.
Neteyam rolled his eyes and tried not to laugh.
"Hop on."
He jumped on his ikran. Before he pulled me on behind him, I waved a last goodbye to Tsireya."Stick your head in my jacket if you ever feel scared. Feel free to grab me by my waist or arm" He said, glancing back at me. I shook my head in agreement and instantly stuck my head in his warmed up jacket.
"Time for takeoff!" He said a little too enthusiastically.
I didn't experience much of the ride as I immediately fell asleep on his smooth and warm back. I hoped I didn't drool on poor Neteyam.
I did cling onto him like some monkey, though.
"Ki, do you want me to suffocate?" I heard him say inbetween deep breaths. I just mumbled and went back to sleep. Not my fault he was so cozy and warm.
When we arrived it had long become day again.
"They brought a little souvenir" I thought to myself as we walked towards the masses of Omatikaya people.
That's right. I learned their name.
I suppose they didn't like souvenirs, though, as I was greeted by many judgemental stares.
One by one turned away from my friends to look at me.I greeted the clan that looked so different, yet the same. They all looked so pretty.
Not as pretty as Neteyam, though. Of course.
"Jake sully!" Some woman yelled enthusiastically whilst walking out of the masses, to greet the Toruk makto. I felt so uncomfortable and found myself moving closer to Neteyam.
I felt so out of place, standing here, getting stared at.
Neteyam stroked my shoulder in an attempt to soothe me but instead everyone threw dirty glances at him.
Come on... They're acting like he brought a sky person.
"Who is this girl?" The woman asked, cautiously.
"She has come here, from the Metkayina clan. She would like to stay, if that's okay with you all." Neteyam's father explained."Why have you come, child?" The woman asked me directly this time.
I was unsure of what to say.
Before I could come up with an answer, Neteyam replied quickly."She will become my wife, grandmother" Neteyam answered.
Everyone turned to look at him in surprise, including me.
I looked around in discomfort and met eyes with Neytiri who smiled at me excitedly. Tuktirey clapped with her hands.
"That's right. I would like to claim a spot in this clan as Neteyam's wife, if you allow me to. I will do my best to be helpful to you" I said nervously, improvising.
