I'm gonna be honest. I didn't MEAN to find out about any secret powers.

I just didn't get how Maya is able to just... walk up to Kaida without even causing a single spark to fly in her direction. The woman is TERRIFYING. Maya seemed a lot like me, which naturally made me assume she'd be about as scared of Kaida as I was.

Well, needless to say, I was wrong. I found her and Kaida after school this afternoon talking about "So Apparently there are Mind Readers Now???"  which is a movie I'd seen and liked. They were laughing pretty hard, so I decided to eavesdrop a little. (I'm like Timothy that way. Only difference is, I can tell when he's doing it.)

Maya held her sides, bending over from laughter and jostling her headphones. (How she could hear Kaida with them in was beyond me.) "Stop! Stop! It wasn't THAT close to how mine works!" She said between loud giggles. "I can't just delve into someone's memories unless they're thinking about them! Kaida you KNOW this!"

I blinked. "Delve into someone's memories?" Well, of course she couldn't! Mind readers don't REALLY exist. Everyone knows that!

"Okay, but you gotta admit the part where she fainted mid-lunch from head pain hit just a little too close to home." Kaida smirked, pulling out a bag of chips that were either spicy or cheese-flavored. "Want some?"

Maya nodded. "Thanks!" she said, taking a handful.

"No problem!" Kaida said, popping a few into her mouth.

Suddenly, Maya let out a strange sound. "WHY ARE THESE SPICY?!?"

Kaida shrugged. "I thought you knew they were the spicy ones." She tapped Maya's forehead for emphasis.

"How many times do I have to tell you??? I can hardly ever hear anything in your head! It's literally on fire!"

I gaped. Excuse me? ExCUSE ME?!? I thought for a split second before tamping it down. (They say it's not healthy to bottle up your thoughts and feelings, but in a practically child-headed household of five kids, you can't exactly afford any healthier options.)

Maya let out another whoop. "Ohhhh they get spicier... Ohhh they get worse-" She fanned her mouth. "HOW THE HECK DO YOU EAT THESE ON THE DAILY?!?"

"I... put them in my mouth and chew them and swallow them??? How else would you expect me to eat something???" Kaida smirked, watching Maya fanning her tongue. "You look absolutely ridiculous, by the way."

"Okayokayokay back to the movie before I pass out???"

Kaida shrugged. "I just wanted to ask the local expert how accurate the depiction of telepathy was. I got my answer, so now I can watch you looking like an idiot until my tutoring session."

That was when I decided to make my entrance.

"Maya? Are you alright?" I asked, an evident shiver in my voice when Kaida turned to look at me.

"How much of that did you hear?" the older of the two girls asked, standing up to her full height.

I gulped, and decided it wouldn't be prudent to lie to her. "All of it..."

Alright!!! now Moon/Maya has a Lancelot to her Merlin! I'm not sure where Peril/Kaida fits so I'll just say she's season 2 Morgana if we're taking that route-
