I was leaning on the fence of some fancy house which was hosting a party. And no I wasn't invited. I'm working as a bartender and server. The people are mostly kooks. A few stray pogues among them.

I as said was working but I was now taking my 15 minute break to smoke a joint JJ gave me last week for covering his shift. My eyes were on the ocean like so many times before. The noise from the party only a background noise as I tuned it out

When I heard footsteps behind me I thought it was some kid how was just passing because they got bored of the party but to my surprise the girl decided to lean on the fence right next to me. "Don't even think about telling me to get back to work I'm on break and yes even pogues get to have breaks" I said. It's very common for kooks to complain I aren't working when I'm on break

"I know and I wasn't going to" She answered and I don't know her but no one can miss the voice of Sarah Cameron.

And just to make something clear. She has been the talk among teenagers the last few weeks. She, John B and Topper. Just about everyone knows about how she hooked up with Topper while still being with John and how John B punched Topper. But since I work with JJ I get to here some bits that everyone else doesn't. Supposedly John B had lie about some stuff and acted weird so Sarah felt lonely. Of course it doesn't justify it but it kinda makes it sound that it wasn't totally Sarah's fault. You shouldn't lie to friends and especially not to a partner, but back to right now and us leaning on the fence.

"Is it okey if I just vent a bit. You don't have to listen if you want but I just want to tell someone" She says looking down at the sand in front of the fence

"Sure go ahead"

"Do you ever just feel like everything isn't the same anymore. At one moment everything is perfect and then it just isn't. It doesn't feel like it should and because of that you start to think in another way and then everything is just so confusing because you don't know what you want or what is right or what you should do"

"I get that. Felt like that I while back. Had a great boyfriend but then summer break came and thinks just wasn't the same. So I hit another guy up and it was good and all but wasn't right. The first one found out and poof I had no one. Lead to me finding out I like fucking girls instead" I say thinking back to last summer. "Kinda sounds like your story tho. Except the fucking girls part as far as I know"

"Yea no. Haven't done that yet" She answer just as my boss tries to wave me back to the bar

"Well I have to get back to work" I say standing up. "Want the rest of the joint" I say offering it to her. She takes it and think she is about to say something but the boss called again

That was the first time we talked and well we stumbled up on each other the next morning

I was working at the only breakfast place in OBX taking orders when she came over. "What would you like" I ask not bringing up yesterday if she didn't want to. But she did

"I first of all wanted to thank you for yesterday. I just needed to get that of my chest and my friends isn't always the easiest to talk to" She say smiling at me

"That was no problem" I said. Shyly smiling back

"I didn't get your name tho and you look really familiar" She continues to ask instead of ordering

"It's y/n y/l/n. And my dad used to work for your so maybe because of that?" I say scratching my neck not really feeling comfortable with the subject in public

"Nice to meet you then y/n. I'm Sarah Cameron and I would like..." She ordered for her and her friend. Kiara I think her name is. JJs girlfriend or what ever they are. He never really know
