Annabelle had such high hopes after the kiss, even though Remus had left the room so abruptly. Of course, she found it a little weird, but maybe he got shy. That was cute.

When Annabelle entered the Great Hall the following day, she was all smiles. She waited for Remus to sit next to her, but he never showed.

The rest of the day went by without seeing Remus. The next day Annabelle saw Remus, but instead of greeting her, he walked the other way. A little part of her heart fell down to her stomach. In the weeks that followed, Remus ignored Annabelle. If Annabelle was sitting at the table in the Great Hall, he would find a seat on the opposite side. If Annabelle tried to talk to Remus, he would just act like she wasn't there.

Annabelle finally gave up but not being able to speak with Remus, the person that made her heart want to jump out of her chest, the person that made her feel a way that no one else had devastated her. Annabelle tried to do things to take Remus off her mind, but nothing worked. All she could think or see when she was in school was Remus.

Annabelle decided a walk would do her some good, but memories of her last walk came into play as she reached the Black Lake. How she was so excited that they had almost kissed and that she was sure that the pair had some sort of connection. But now Annabelle realized that the relationship was one-sided.

Knowing no matter what she did, she couldn't erase Remus from her memory, Annabelle trudged back to the castle. Children bustled to the Great Hall for dinner as she entered the warm building. Annabelle walked behind a group of young Ravenclaws. She didn't want to look up at the table where the professors sat in case Remus was already there, but her eyes didn't seem to care about what she wanted because they looked up. But, of course, Remus was already sitting a seat away from McGonagall.

Annabelle quickly looked away as Remus' head turned in her direction and found a seat on the opposite side. She slowly filled her plate, and while eating, she snuck glances at Remus, but he never even looked her way. Annabelle stole another look at Remus, and he was smiling at McGonagall, happily talking to her about who knows what.

"I see someone has upset you."

Annabelle looked to her right and saw Snape staring at her with emotionless eyes.

"What are you talking about?"

"Staring at the mutt? What happened? Did he throw you in the waste with the rest of his doggy bones?

Annabelle wasn't facing Snape, so she had time to control her expressions. Instead of staring at Snape with flaming eyes and a murderous smirk, she displayed a calm and collected set of eyes and neither a frown nor a smile.

"Are you that keen on knowing about my personal life?" Annabelle asked. "Is your life so dull that you must dig that big nose of yours into others?"
