CHAPTER 7: IMPLAUSIBLE PLEAS

Chioma sat in the living room with her mac book on her lap, as Linus stood at the other end of the living room on the phone. He was supposed to be talking to Damian on the phone about forgetting about tutoring Blossom, but based on the responses Chioma was getting from Linus's end of the call, she was certain that what she wanted wasn't going to happen, because she knows how persistent Damian can be, and she can see how stressed Linus is from the call.

The call was taking longer than she expected, so she decided to walk up to Linus to get a better picture of what exactly was going on. She stood beside Linus, her MacBook on the sofa, stretching her ear towards the phone and signalling him to put it on speaker. He moved away from her and said a few "yesses", "no problem" and "we will see then", then he hung up the phone.

"Chioma what was that childish leaning on me for, during a call?" He asked her looking displeased

"It’s Damian now, I won't do that for another person, what did he say when you told him" she asked hopefully

Mr Linus took a seat beside Chioma's MacBook as she shifted the MacBook and sat down  next to him "oya now, tell me baby"

"So he said he would recommend someone for weekdays, but he'll still love to coach her for free on weekends, who am I to reject such generous offer, besides he's sort of her uncle and at this point Blossom needs all the time she has to catch up with her mates"

"Linus just say you still want him to be part of our lives and that family member you’re so close to, because I don't understand the meaning if this arrangement, Monday to Friday is enough for her to assimilate something,  she needs rest, my daughter will rest on weekends o, that one Damian is saying is nonsense,  I'll get her a teacher myself, he doesn't need to stress himself its very fine" Chioma says as she angrily walks out

Linus stands up and follows her "chi, this shouldn’t be something we get to argue about all the time, its fine, he won't be assigned to teach her generous wise or not, but you won't prohibit me from having a relationship with a family member of yours that wants to have one with me, I need that closure from one of them, my friends are always planning vacations with their families and their wives and you just see me mute, I can't say anything, they'll say its cause I married a baby who can't speak up even in her own household, don't restrict me from having that bond with Damian" Mr Linus says gently placing his hand on her shoulder. She slowly turns around as she gives him a warm but sad smile " Damian is just-, baby I don't just want Damian at all as part of our lives, what if, if I convince Uchenna to have a conversation and you guys can take it from there, will you shut out Damian forever" Chioma asks hoping Linus will agree to her offer and stop this whole Damian chapter for good

"To be honest I already have this bond and liking with Damian, but if it goes well with I and Uche, I'll gladly consider your request" he said totally not impressed with the offer, they hug it out and Chioma offer to make fruit salad, his favourite, and Chioma offering to do something he loves by herself in the kitchen, without calling Bisi, means she really wants this "operation discard Damian" to be successful, cause nothing makes Linus smile bigger than a very nutritious plate of fruit salad.

Chioma is still not sure if Linus will actually do as she says after convincing her brother to speak to him, that is if that will be possible as Uche is a very stubborn human, she decided to call Damian and try to keep him away from Linus, but within her she knows that too would be difficult  she just do not under why Linus likes Damian so much and what the hell is Damian’s agenda is in her life this time. Her fear still remains blossom, is he finally coming for a daughter that is possibly his just to ruin her life that she has struggled to get used to and maintain
