The next day everyone was busy around the house, cleaning up the mess that Mei had made the previous day due to her distress.
Ming walked down the hallway vacuuming the red hair that was scattered around. Qiao was helping with the cleaning by scrubbing the paw prints off the walls, which didn't seem to come off.
Suddenly the ground shook a little and everyone froze, it shook again and Ming ran over to a photo of Mei and Qiao hanging on the wall that was about to fall over. She hung it back up and looked back at her family.
Mei was running around her room, crashing into the walls to try get rid of the of the furry panda. She groaned as she jumped off her mattress and landed on the hardwood floor. She groaned as she shakily sat up.
"Please...just...go away" she panted laying on the floor and bringing her knees up to her forehead. She began to shake and then turned into her panda form again.
" No! " Mei whined looking down at herself " why? Why?!" She covered her eyes with her hands and groaned.
There was a knocking on her window "
Mei it's us! Open up"
It was Miriam, Mei sat up quickly her eyes widened, what are they doing here!? She looked around the room frantically " no no.."
She ran up to the window and closed the curtains, to make sure her friends couldn't see her " guys what are you doing!!" She whispered yelled.
" Are you okay?" Miriam asked
Mei shut her mouth with her paw. Closing her eyes. Hoping they couldn't hear her breathing
" Mei! " Abby called out " 4-town is coming to Toronto!!"
" What?!" Mei yelled opening the curtains, she forgot that she was in her panda form.
Her friends began screaming and she screamed back.
" Hey!" She yelled and dragged them inside her room.
" Be quite! Please, shut up it's me.. its Mei!" She tried calling out to her screaming panicking friends
" I'm gonna let go and your all gonna be chill, got that?"
There was a pause before everyone nodded. Mei slowly put down her friends and stood back, cowering slightly at the attention.
" Mei?" Miriam asked, hesitation in her voice
There was a silence before Priya spoke up " are you a wear wolf?"
" No! What?" Mei looked at Priya like she was stupid
" She is a red panda!" Abby screeched excited about the furry thing
" Your so fluffy, your so fluffy!" She launched herself towards Mei and hugged her, rubbing her face in the fur.
Priya touched Meis tail " I've always wanted a tail
" Cut it out guys!" Miriam scolded the too before focusing on Mei " Mei what the heck happened? "
Mei panicked " uh, it's just some, yknow, inconvenient uh.. genetic thingy I got from my mom...I mean... it'll go away... eventually" meis eyes started to water slightly as she explained to her friends why she's a panda. " Maybe..."
She stopped and began sobbing sitting down on the floor, her friends ran towards her instantly comforting her
" Aw Mei...."
" I hate this! I'm slobby, I'm smelly, my mom won't even look at me, and now 4-town.." she sobbed again " when are they coming" she asked looking at Abby
" May 18th, they just announced it"
" The 18th, there is no way this will be gone by then" Mei wailed as she kept sobbing " just go, go become women without me" she cried
" Mei, it's gonna be okay" Miriam reassured holding onto Meis face
" No it's not, I'm a freak! Just..leave me alone" Mei pushed her friends away and walked over to the other end of the room, crawling into a small ball and crying hugging her plushie close as her friends watched.
They looked at each other, wondering what to do about the poor girl crying. Miriam thought of an idea. She smiled as she thought of something that would definitely make Mei cheer up.
She started beatboxing, the other two looked at her and smirked, Abby joined in, beatboxing a different tune. Priya finally joined in, making up some lyrics that just consisted of ' mmh, yeah let's go'
They continued, and Miriam started singing. She started to sing the lyrics of the girls favourite band. 4-town. She sang while the others beatboxed, hoping that Mei would cheer up.
Miriam stopped and pointed an imaginary microphone towards Mei. Panting slightly, Mei looked up at her friends before mumbling the next line of the song.
The group sang after her, Mei sat up and began singing with her friends, slowly forgetting the sad mood she was in a couple seconds ago.
When they finished the song, everyone started cheering.
Mei hugged her friends
" Thanks guys" she sniffled " your the best"
The three looked a her " aw, we love you Mei" Miriam said smiling before all of them hugged Mei again. She smiled and relaxed before a puff of smoke appeared and Mei was human again
" Woah, Mei!" Priya said looking at Mei, her red her caught everyone's attention since it stood out
" Red looks so good on you" Priya stated, observing the hair as Miriam twirled her around
" Is it gone?" Abby asked looking around the room, wondering how this panda business works
" For now" Mei sighed " but if I get too excited it'll come right back...ow!" Mei recoiled back as Abby pinched her cheek " what the heck?" Mei paused and looked around her room " something feels different....Abby hit me"
Mei pointed at her arm and Abby looked at her before throwing a punch, she completely missed the arm and hit Mei square in the face. She fell on the floor and moaned in pain. Before she flew up again
" Oh my gosh! I stayed calm" Mei walked around her room fixing her glasses " something about you guys, like, neutralizes the panda" Meis friends looked at her before Miriam swooned
" Awww! It's our love!" She smiled making a heart with her hands and looking at Mei
" This means I can have my room back" she gasped " I can have my life back!"
Miriam grasped onto her friends shoulders " no...even better " she shook her friends and smiled jumping up at Mei " you can come with us to 4-town!"
" Huh?" Mei turned to her friends confused
" This is the only chance we can all go see them together, we're all asking our parents tonight " Miriam cheered excited
" We're making our stand"
" Ya! You in or you out?"
Meis friends asked her excitedly, happy that they maybe have a chance to go see the boy band they love so much
" But I can't ask my mom" Mei protested " I'm a furry ticking time bomb!"
" Of awesomeness!" Miriam reassured making a weird pose, pointing her fingers at Mei " and now you gotta control it, so just prove to your mom that youve got this "
Mei bit her lip and looked down at the floor, would her mother really let her go. Her dad definitely would but her mom is way less forgiving, maybe if she really proved she can control the panda, her mom migh just let her go.
" Mei-mei?"
Mei snapped out of her thoughts as she heard her mother calling for her
" Crap! You guys gotta go" Mei panicked pushing her friends towards the window
" But-"
" No buts Miriam, my mom already doesn't like you " Mei pushed them out the window
" Wait she doesn't" Miriam asked dumbfounded as Mei shut the window
" I'll call you I promise!"
As her friends said goodbye, Mei closed the curtains quickly before her mother walked in
" Everything ok?" Ming asked opening the door
" Mom.." Mei said turning around
" I think I made a breakthrough"
