Qiao sat in her room extremely bored. She slouched in her desk chair, her school books were sprawled out on the desk as her eyes glazed over the various words of nonsense that sat on the page. Qiao sighed defeated, she's been studying for hours now, studying for no particular reason. She had no exams coming up, her mom just nagged Qiao into studying since her exams are months away. Ming was strict, Qiao knew that.

She groaned and slammed her head against her book, her head making a large thump as her forehead connected with the textbook. Qiao looked up, she pushed aside the curtains that shaded her from the outside world, since she knew she would see something that would distract her from study.
Qiaos eyes scanned the outside world, it was late. Around 6.30. Dinner probably wouldn't be ready till 8, since Qiaos family like to eat pretty late, and Jin and Ming went out with Mei to some after school thing. Qiao didn't want to go at the time, but deep down she wished she could have gone.

Since her parents were gone, she had some sort of freedom, no one to boss her around, but activities at this time are pretty limited. Especially in this neighbourhood. Qiao spun her spinny chair around to face her mirror, she looked at her reflection, assessing herself and thinking about what to do other than boring and brain eating study.

Qiao stretched like a cat and stood up, scratching her head as she trudged into the kitchen. Qiao opened the fridge and scanned the shelves searching for her favourite soda, and to her disappointment, it wasn't there. Qiao groaned loudly and slammed the fridge door shut. She was really craving a soda, why do her parents never buy them for her? Qiao decided to just go to the convenience store down the road and just buy her drink. That was a better plan than studying.

Qiao walked back into her bedroom, switching off her desk lamp and putting on a pair of shoes. She grabbed her wallet and her house keys and shoved them into the pockets of her jeans, walking out of her house and making her way to the nearby store.

The walk was short, but it was nice, peaceful. The cold night air hit Qiaos cheeks, making them go a slight red colour. The bright lights from the Daisy mart slightly hurt Qiaos eyes, and she winced as the open sign flashed brightly. Qiao huffed and pushed the door open with her hand, the small bell above the door chimed loudly and the store employee, Devon, looked up from his slouched position watching Qiao as she walked in.

"Hi" she waved, smiling slightly at Devon who just stared at her dumbfounded. His tired eyes never leave hers.
Qiao began roaming around the store, looking for her drink while also trying to find something else to snack on while she studies.
After some browsing, Qiao got her soda and some potato chips. Which she placed down on the counter. Devon looked up at her and began scanning the stuff in silence. He looked a bit weary around Qiao, and she honestly couldn't blame him. After that stunt her mother and Mei pulled off, Qiao would be terrified of anyone related to them.

Although, Qiao wanted Devon to know that she isn't going to draw him weirdly, or that she won't pull any weird stunt like her mother did earlier this week. She wanted the man to know shes the chill, cooler older sister, but to some extent, she wanted to apologise to Devon for mentally scarring, even though none of it was her fault.

"Hey so uh,.." Qiao started, making Devon look up at her from his slow scanning. He raised a brow as he waited for Qiao to finish what he was saying.
"Sorry about my..mom and my sister and the whole ordeal earlier" she apologised, bowing down slightly as a form of respect. Devon was taken aback and fumbled around nervously, moving his hands around in an awkward way to try to make Qiao stand back up straight.

"Oh no, Jesus, you don't have to apologise, it's okay! Please just stand up straight" Devon rambled nervously as Qiao stood back up straight, smiling awkwardly at Devon as he was a bit red from embarrassment.
"Uhm, it's okay honestly" he nodded, rubbing the back of his neck and staring down at the floor in silence. "I forgot about it," he said honestly, looking up at Qiao before looking back down at the ground, mumbling incoherently in embarrassment.
