The next morning

Nick's POV

I open my eyes and squint at the bright sunlight shining on my face. My head is pounding, and I feel like absolute shit. I look down and realise I'm not wearing a shirt, shit. I hope me and y/n didn't do anything last night. As I adjust to the light, I look around, and memories of last night start flooding my brain, I dont think we did anything, although I'm certain that there was definitely some strong feelings there when we got into bed. I turn over to look at her, peacefully sleeping. I smile, remembering the kiss we had. She looks so perfect, her eyes blissfully shut and her hair draped across her shoulders and back. Her eyes start to flicker, and she lets out a small groan, I panic slightly and roll over, pretending to be asleep. I feel her hands travel under my arm and hug me tightly from behind, I can't help but smile to myself.

I yawn, turning back over to meet her smiling face, looking at mine intently. "Morning." She says. "Morning, y/n." I reply, brushing some of the hair out of her face that had fallen and covered her eye. "My head hurts so bad." She sighs. "Yeah, same, I feel like crap." I say. "Shit, what time is it?!" She shrieks, scrambling to look at the beside clock. "Oh my god, Nick, it's 2pm." I stare at her, trying to process what she just said, and it finally hits me. The boys. "HOLY SHIT!" I yell and leap out of bed. We both start getting dressed as quickly as we can, rushing around the room chaotically. Y/n finishes and starts putting on her shoes, struggling, then hops backwards, bumping into her closet with a harsh thud. "Oh my god, are you okay?" I ask and rush over to her. She laughs weakly and gets up. "Yeah, I'm fine." We both chuckle for a second, then quickly go to the door. "When are you coming back?" She asks. "Soon, I promise." I tell her, giving her a peck on the forehead. He hug each other and rush out of the apartment, going our separate ways. "Bye, Nick!!" I hear her yell from across the street as she waves goodbye, blowing me a kiss. I smile at her and wave, blowing her a kiss back, then get into my car and check my phone. 13 unread messages, 6 missed calls. I'm so dead.

I call Kev and start my car. He picks up almost immediately. "Where the hell are you, man?!" He shouts. "I'm so sorry, dude. I literally woke up five minutes ago. Me and y/n got wast-" "Save it, Nick, just get here ASAP." He says, signing in disappointment. Now, not only do I feel like shit because of my hangover, but I also broke my promise. As I start driving back to Bruges, I start thinking about last night. What if me and y/n did have sex? What would be the consequences of that? Would we regret it? I clear my thoughts and focus on the road, I can't get distracted right now.

Once I arrive at the hotel, I push open the door carefully and quietly walk in, trying not to make a fuss. "Nick where the fuck have you been? You promised you'd get here in time! Everyone has packed their shit but you!" AJ says angrily. "Guys, I'm really sorry, I swear I didn't do it on purpose, I woke up late with a hangover and-" "You got drunk?" Howie asks. "Yeah, me and y/n had alcohol last night." I say. "No wonder you woke up late." Kevin scolds. "Please, guys, I'm sorry, I swear I won't do it again." I say. "We aren't mad because you didn't get here early. We're mad because you promised us." Brian says sadly. He shakes his head and walks into our room, then comes back out with a few of my things already packed. "It's a good job. I don't have much with me, I managed to pack some of your stuff so you wouldn't be rushing around tonight." He says, dropping them at my feet. "Brian..." I sigh. "It's okay, Nick, just don't do it again." AJ says. The guys separate into their rooms, leaving me with a few bags. I pinch the top of my head, squeezing my eyes shut. Get yourself together, Carter.

I spend the rest of the afternoon gathering my stuff and putting it all in bags, then settling the bags together and making sure that the hotel room is clean and tidy. I walk into mine and B-Roks room and sit down on my bed. "Brian, are you still upset?" I ask. "No, I just wish you were a little more responsible man, you knew you had to get here early, but you still decided to get wasted knowing you'd be hungover today." Brian closes the book he was reading and looks at me. "I guess I'm a bit all over the place right now, I dunno." I say. "What do you mean?" He asks, shifting position. "I feel like everything is going way too quickly, I just wish time would slow down a bit so I can digest everything going on." I sigh and lay down on my back. I stare at the ceiling for a while before Brian speaks again. "Is this about y/n?" He says. "Partly." I reply. "Look man, you're gonna need to tell her about the real you soon, or else she'll find out herself and the consequences will be even greater." He says and gets up, walking over to my bed. He places himself on the end and looks at me.

"I just wanted a girl to treat me like a human being." My voice breaks, and I start tearing up. Brian looks at me with pitiful eyes. "You're in love, aren't you?" He asks. I sit up and look at him. Am I in love with y/n? Isn't it too early? Then again, I've never felt the way I do about her with anyone before, and I don't wanna let that feeling go anytime soon. "I think so." I hum. "Come here, brother." He says, opening his arms and reaching out for a hug. I hug him back, and he pats my back before letting go. "Just tell her, or you'll regret it." He says. I think about it for a second, y/n would be devastated if she found out herself that I was lying. What if she never wants to speak to me again? "Rok, I need you to do me a huge favour." I ask with a weak smile. He sighs and raises an eyebrow. "What is it?" "I need you to tell the others tomorrow morning that I've gone to the store to get something before we leave, I'm going to tell y/n tomorrow." I say. "What?! Are you crazy?" He shouts. "Shhhh, don't yell." I try calming him. "I'm gonna leave at 5am, that gives me around 3 hours before we have to leave for the airport, my plan is to get there by half past, tell y/n, then get back here for half 7. Your part is to tell them at 6 when they all get up that I told you I was going to the store for an hour or so."

"Are you sure that's gonna work?" He asks sceptically and crosses his arms. "Totally, the only downside is y/n's reaction." I say, looking down. "Alright, I'll tell them, but you BETTER be back at the very most, eight, alright?" He points at me. "Of course! I won't let you down again." I grin.
