Mavis's POV:
I escaped death. Or close to it. I am still following these two people, Aiden and Issy—from what I heard—into a garage that is almost the size of a house. There are rows of expensive cars I can't even name.
Aiden grabs a pair of keys and unlocks a Porsche. I can't stop thinking of Karden and the way he looked at me before leaving. Or Damien, the one I saw at the bar basically agreeing on killing me. What a fucked-up family? But I realize they aren't who I really think they are. They're more than the wealthy family everybody is obsessed with.
They aren't human. Or maybe something more.
I am silent the entire time meanwhile Aiden and Issy talk about nonsense. I'm in the backseat and as he's driving mindlessly at an alarming speed—it's fluent to him. Issy insists on getting my address and once I tell her, she knows exactly where it is. Making me wonder why Karden doesn't want to know where I'm staying.
"Karden couldn't glamour her?" Aiden questions and my ears perk up at the name. He's right. Whatever Karden was trying to do to me outside didn't work. And it brought surprise to all his siblings and father.
Issy glances over the passenger seat and looks at me. "Yes, I guess not."
"Any possibility on why?" Aiden concurs and she shrugs.
"Not sure. Never happened to us with a human."
"Right." The conversation ends and I watch as the copse of trees fly past us in the darkness.

I don't know how to explain it to my dad. Or even try to express anything that happened. Will they actually make sure I don't say anything or watch me for as long as I'm here? Forget it, I'm telling my dad I'm leaving the second I'm in contact with him.
No way I'm staying here long enough for these weirdos to follow me. Aiden holts to a stop and we are in front of the house. I don't even thank him as I hurry outside of the car and towards the apartment door.
Why would I even thank them? Or let me out of the problem so easily? Hell no, now they know where I live during my stay in Norway. Maybe Sam is right, it's dangerous for me to be here. Fumbling with the key, I unlock the door and push my body against it. Slamming it shut, I exhale a low sigh of some relief.
Turning, I gasp when I see two figures in the darkness. Flicking the light on, it's Aiden and Issy.
"How the hell..."
Aiden pops a lopsided grin, "Too slow."
"We aren't going to hurt you." Issy says with a warm look in her eyes. Aiden gazes at her and shrugs, "I mean she does smell good."
Nudging him in the ribs, he leans forward and hisses something in another language. Issy slowly approaches me, the diamonds on her dress reflecting from the light above. Her heels click with every step she takes towards me. She's young and absolutely beautiful but there's something dark lingering in her gaze.
"There's something about you." She tells me and I shake my head.
"There is nothing and I'm completely normal." I raise my hands up to my chest as a truce. "Like I said, I promise I won't say anything. In the morning I will be gone."
Issy reaches out to the air and gestures towards me, "That's the thing, I don't want you to leave."
"What?" Aiden and I say simultaneously.
She rolls her eyes and turns to Aiden, "Clearly there is something going on between her and Karden."
"What?" I reply again although I heard what she said. Issy ignores me and focuses on Aiden's confused expression.
