Karden's POV:

"What do you mean a human caught Aria killing the servant?" My father fusses, rushing with me through the halls. It is difficult to sneak him out of the party without disrupting any guests or my mother yet I find a way to usher him out.

"You heard me. Exactly what you said." I answer agitatedly.

Aria doesn't return because she wants to rinse the blood off her skin. Better for me, I don't want her near the human. If I was blind, I'd be able to find the room by following her scent. That's how strong it is. I don't even want to talk about her skin and how hot and smooth it is under her sweater.

"Where is she?" He asks in a hurry until I push the closest door to us open.

The human is standing in front of the couch and her mouth shuts when she sees me. I urgently move aside and reveal my father. He sucks in a breath and I shut the door behind him.

"Okay," My father almost answers to himself. "Why did you bring her here?"

"Please, let me go. I promise not to say anything I fucking swear." The human begs, her eyes welling in tears.

Why did I bring her here? My glamouring didn't work when I tried to erase her memories. She just laughed in my face almost making me feel pathetic. I've never felt like that before.

"Shush." My father snaps and she shut her mouth. Her heart hasn't stopped racing since I've found her and I'm afraid she might have a heart attack. She grows small and I don't pry my gaze away from her.

This entire time, that distinct smell—I never thought it's coming from her. I mean, where else would it come from? I shake my head to myself and Aiden notices. He gives me a confused look and I shake it again.

"What do you want to do?" My father turns to his children. Issy shrugs and Damien raises a finger.

"Kill her?" My body goes rigid, and I suddenly panic with a cold face, so no one notices. However, father shakes his head to the idea. The human squeaks at the option and she steps forward.

Easy, human. As much as she's afraid, she's not afraid of getting close.

"Please, don't kill me." She pleas and my father ignore her cries.

He turns to me and furrows his brows, "Why don't you make her forget?" He insists and I bite my tongue.

"I tried." Responding is thick like cement.

"And?"

"It didn't work." There's silence but the human still begging. Can she just shut up and let us think? She's not dead yet so she shouldn't fear anything.

Issy senses my irritation and approaches her to tell her to calm down. However, she doesn't listen and cowers away from my sister. Issy glances at me and gives me a cold look.

"Why not?" Father questions and I sigh annoyingly, running a hand through my hair. The human has finally quiet down and is waiting for a response.

"I-I don't know. It didn't work." Damien pops a brow from my agitated response and Aiden mutters a question, but no one answers him. Father stares at me with a stiff lip and I avoid his gaze.

Suddenly, Issy gasps and clasps her hands over her mouth. Her eyes are large and the human glances at her in surprise. We all go silent and look at her for an answer. In a quick motion, Issy puts her hands behind her back and shakes her head.

"Sorry, never mind." I grind my teeth together and force my fangs to stay put. It isn't a manner to release them with anger. The human is already as terrified as she is. Neither the less, I won't have control over them, and her blood will be on my hands.
