Kazakhstan turned around and saw the American boy clutching onto his sheets, his eyes still unadjusted to his surroundings. "Hello, America. Don't be frightened." Kazakhstan said comfortingly, nudging him with his wing gently.

Kazakhstan had always been good at reading people; however, America had always been quite difficult to break through too. Right now though, he was open as a book to Kazakhstan. America was trembling and trying to ground himself.

"Kazakhstan?" America whispered. He gently grazed Kaz's wings with his finger tips. "I'm here Ame." Kazakhstan wrapped his wing around him. Russia grumbled after seeing how close the two were.

Germany sighed and locked eyes with America's. He didn't have his sunglasses on, and it was the first time he had seen him without them. Americas eyes were odd.  From how squinted his eyes were he could barley see them, but they weren't white like most of the other countries, they were pitch black.

The only other person he had ever seen with eyes that weren't white was United Nations, and his were just yellow. America had caught Germany staring and quickly covered his face with his hands before anyone else noticed.

Germany was about to say something to America but then he saw Kaz eyeing him and America, noticing his action. He assumed it was something Germany did, so he started to glare daggers into his soul.

"Ame, what's wrong?" Kaz gently asked. Russia stopped grumbling and looked up. He may not be on the best terms with the country, but he didn't want him to be hurt or not okay in his company. "My, my glasses. Kaz, I-I need them." America said in a hushed tone. Kazakhstan looked around but couldn't find them.
"They must have fallen off. Sorry America." Kazakhstan said. America started to breathe faster. "Then something to cover my eyes." America said. Germany looked at him with slight pity. "I saw them, and they aren't that bad. I don't think anyone here would judge you for it." Germany said in an attempt to console the other. That statement just mad him panic even more.

"You SAW them?" America asked. Russia and Kazakhstan exchanged a look. Why did this bother him so much? "Its okay to show us, Ame." Kaz said, moving his wing away from Americas face and closer to himself. America sighed and silently had a short-lived panic attack.

"Hey, America, I have something odd about me as well." Germany said. He flashed his teeth, and there were two abnormally sharp teeth, large enough to be fangs. Kazakhstan looked and smiled at America. "And wings aren't super-normal either." He said.

Russia thought about pointing out his oddity, the fact that his tongue was blue, but he didn't, because Kaz had already done so. "And that fuckers tongue is blue." Kazakhstan said proudly, pointing at Russia. Germany looked over at him and America looked up at him through his fingers. "Yeah, yeah. So what?" Russia grumbled and stuck out his tongue. "Its only like that so that I can eat the colder foods in my environment." Russia explained.

The three others looked at America as he nervously uncovered his eyes. the skin around them looked fine, except the little star freckles that nobody ever noticed. He slowly opened them up, and there they were. The pitch black 'void' of what would've been eyes brighter than the sun.

Russia's eyes widened and Germany's as well. It was still very fascinating to him. Kaz looked on in a mix of shock and admiration. "Hey Ame, remember when I told you that that one shirt you wanted was hideous and I wouldn't talk to you ever again if you wore it?" Kazakhstan said, which interrupted the odd silence.

"Yeah, that's when I knew you were one of those 'honest' friends." America said and smiled. For the first time, the others could actually see his eyes to the words and actions. Americas smile was contagious enough when he had his sunglasses on, since it was large and silly and signature, but now it was infectious. It was the type of smile that made you want to follow him and be his best friend, the type of smile that made you want to get into whatever mischief he was.

Russia noticed that even though his eyes were black, they held so much emotion. He found himself studying every expression, every small movement America made. He shook himself out of it just in time to hear Kaz's next statement. "Well I'm being as honest as possible when I say your eyes are beautiful." Americas looked at Kaz with a mixed expression.

"You're just saying that, aren't you?" America said. Kazakhstan shook his head no, and Germany followed suit. "America, they are jewels in their own way. I think they compliment you." Germany said. Russia was about to say something as well, when an alarm went off. Germany grabbed his phone from his pocket and adjusted his glasses.

"Its time for my departure." He said. Russia nodded and Kaz stood. America was about to get up to say goodbye to his friend when he felt a sharp pain in his stomach. He sat back down and winced, mumbling something along the lines of 'that bastard should've just killed me.' Germany quickly rushed over and sat him back down. "Don't stand, stay." Germany gave his friend a hug and quickly whispered in his ear, "Your secret is safe."

America gave him a tight squeeze and whispered, "Likewise." They pulled away and Germany said bye to Kaz, whom was preparing to leave soon. Russia said he would walk him out, being the amazing the host he was, and the two left.

"Kaz, please keep this a secret." America said, motioning to his eyes. Kazakhstan nodded and sat down on the bed, next to America. "Always, or at least until you finally tell  everyone." Kazakhstan ruffled his hair and stood up as Russia entered. "You are leaving too?" He asked. Kazakhstan said yes and said his goodbyes too America.

"Russia, walk with me to the exit." Kazakhstan turned around to face America before leaving. he knew the last thing he wanted was to be alone right now. "Don't worry Ame, he'll be back." The two left the room, leaving America alone with the thoughts he didn't want to face.

America gazed out the window at the snow that has covered the mountains. he couldn't bear the thought, but he was thinking about it anyway.

What would he do now?
