I rolled onto my stomach, the sound of wind blowing the branches against my window (which had been closed) waking me up. I sighed as I rolled over, looking at the clock. It was 9:30 so I was the only one home.

I sighed as I slowly forced myself out of bed, feeling a lot better compared to yesterday and last night. I blinked a few times as I yawned and slowly stood up, beginning to make my way downstairs for food.

I shuffled into the kitchen and sighed when I saw that dad had put a note on the fridge. I rubbed my eyes as I walked over to it and grabbed it.

Stop by the station for lunch today

I grinned and threw the note in the trash before pulling the fridge open and grabbing the eggs. I walked over to the stove and grabbed a pan before I turned the stove on. I put a bit of butter in the pan before I cracked the eggs and let them cook before I flipped them.

I reached over and turned the radio that dad had put in the kitchen on. There was a news update playing about the missing hikers. I grabbed the pepper and put a bit on my eggs.

I sighed as I thought about those poor hikers. I knew that at least one of them was because of those three vampires that the Cullens had encountered with Bella a few months back.

I grabbed a fork and plate before putting the eggs on the plate. I sat down and began eating.

...

A little while later I had put on my outfit for the day and sat in the bathroom trying to get my hair to corporate while I brushed it out. It was 10:30 and dads lunch was at eleven so I knew that I would need to go to The Carver Cafe to pick up our food.

When my hair was no longer tangled, I walked out of the bathroom and to my bedroom, grabbing the keys for my van. I didn't even bother grabbing my phone, not really caring for it at the moment.

I walked downstairs and out the door, locking it behind me. I walked outside and smiled at our neighbor who was taking his trash out. "Morning Bob!" I cheerfully said when I saw him. The man looked up at me and smiled before waving.

Bob was a sweet man who was a bit younger than my dad. When I was a kid, he would always come over and watch football with my dad and sneak me candy.

"Morning Avery!" He cheerfully responded as I opened the door of the van and got in. I started the car and pulled out of the driveway before I began the drive to The Carver Cafe.

The radio played quietly in the background while I began driving into town. It wasn't raining but it looked like it could start pouring at any time. I I turned into the parking lot and stopped the car.

I smiled at a few people as I walked into the diner. Cora, a very pretty dark skinned woman with short curly hair was at the bar. She smiled widely when she saw me. "Avery! I was wondering when you would be coming in." She grinned at me. I smiled at her as I sat down at the bar, smiling at a dark haired woman who sat on her computer writing.

"The usual?" Cora asked me, already knowing why I was here. I nodded and smiled at her as she told the cooks the order. She looked back at me and leaned on the counter. "Has your dad figured out anything about the situation in the woods?" She asked me.

I gave her a tight-lipped smile as I shook my head. "Nope. I heard some officers talking about it the other day and they think it's a bear though. Dad has people out in the woods looking but they haven't found anything yet unfortunately." I told her.

She sighed as she sat up. Everyone in town was getting antsy trying to figure out what has been happening in the woods. While I wouldn't voice it, I thought that there was a vampire here. I had stayed up one night after dad has went to bed and read his files on what was happening. There were multiple bodies drained completely of blood. A bear doesn't do that.
