The morning began the same as every other day, the sun peaked through shreks poorly constructed window. Shreks eyes fluttered open to the light, he rubbed his boogey covered eyes, his sight was still foggy but as he warily peered around the room it was clear that he was alone, again.
"I am sick of bein' alone! Why does Donkey get a Dragon and I get a nothin'?!" Shrek exclaimed frustrated, his cries echoed through the house, bouncing back to his pathetic self. He groaned and sat up, rubbing his green callused hand over his smooth face.
I've been in this house for weeks ever since that flood, it messed up everything around my property. Of course bad things happen to me, why can't I have someone to help me cope with this mess?!
That was it. The last straw. Shrek decided that he needed to do something eith himself, he couldn't bear to spend another day locked up in this sinking house. Shrek tossed his blanket off of himself and grounded his feet to the floor. He was ready, ready to bring on the new day.
——————-
"Ayyee this light! Why do the sun shine so bright?!" Shrek shielded his eyes from the ever burning sun. His door was being held open by his large foot, he stood on the inside of the house, leaning out. Okey, you got this shrek. Just move your foot... He slowly lifted his foot from his splintered wood floor, practically swinging it towards the warm outside. And just like that, he did it. He reached the outdoors
One small step for man, one giant leap for ogrekind.
"I...I DID IT! I FEEL ALIVE!" Shrek ran out the doors in the blink of an eye, not caring to slowly warm up and walk out. He galloped around like a mad man. uh oh- Shrek slid into something! He lost his balance and toppled over. He felt himself slowly submerge into the thick, warm liquid. He quickly tried to squirm out, thrashing his limbs around as he sank deeper and deeper into the murky abyss...
Shrek began to like this strange sensation-it was warm, comforting, and nothing in it was trying to attack him. It was what he wanted all along, what he dreamed of waking up with, what he could only wish and hope he could have one day- some could say, it was love at first tub.
But it was too good to be true. Something was wrong, it must be. He snapped out of his comfortable trance and began to wiggle, turning his movements into a swim once he realized he could.
Seconds later his head emerged from the thick swamp. He gasped for air and looked around his surroundings. Shrek noticed that he was in a small (but surprisingly deep) body of water, maybe a pond? Whatever it was, he did not want to get out of. Forget what he said before, even if this was some sort of trick it didn't matter anymore, he was in a seemingly impossible state of relaxation. And he didn't wanna give that up for a silly worry. Ogres don't need to worry. Ogres...don't need anything....Ogres only need a swampy pond near his 'tree house'.....
To others, Shrek may have seemed Mad, but in reality, he was Mad in Love.
He made happy twirls in the water, he smooched the mud underneath the surface, he blew bubbles in the swamp, front the front and behind..
