———— "To all the days we were together."
::
ANOTHER FLEETING day was passing by, nothing out of the ordinary as usual. The sky was coated with a layer of dull gray clouds, yet it was not raining. In a way, it felt peaceful, and tranquil for Bachira Meguru. Once again, alone with his own thoughts only, the boy dribbled the soccer ball down an empty field.
The monster of his mind encouraged to, forced him into shooting the ball into the net in such a fast pace that it launched within a blink of an eye.
It felt good, playing soccer again, playing freely. But Bachira still hated it. He hated being by himself all the time even if it was the same his whole life. Not a single person would even approach him.
-
From afar, you were there. You watched this boy the same age as you on your school's practice field just dribbling a ball by himself. You wondered why someone would play soccer by themselves, when it was known for being a team sport.
You found yourself walking closer, and closer to the field. The boy had a bob-cut style, his ends a blonde-yellow colour. He continuously kicked the ball over, and over again, not aware of your gradual approach. You didn't understand what made you feel the urge to suddenly go towards the boy, but you did.
The sky above began to grumble, the gray clouds that covered it was starting to finally take effect. You pulled out your umbrella quickly, recognizing rain was about to fall any moment soon. You stood on the side of the field, still watching the boy dribble, and score over and over again.
Observing his movement, you noticed he had something within him. Something that dictated his graceful, yet agile movements. From this distance, you could not truly tell what it was, but you felt it.
"How intriguing." You thought to yourself.
—————
YOUR INTUITION was correct, it did indeed start to rain heavily, a thunderstorm along with the rainfall. You noticed the same boy you had been watching for almost half an hour now finally stopped. It appeared the rain had snapped him out of whatever trance he was in.
He was soaked, his whole body slightly shivering from the cold impact of individual droplets of rain.
— "You're going to catch a cold, y'know?" You said to him. You had suddenly approached him, and held out your umbrella over the boy's head.
The boy looked slightly confused, and taken aback by you. He didn't know who you were, and wondered why you spoke in such a familiar manner with him. The same kind of speech pattern you would use with your friends.
You only let out a small sigh, disliking the boy's unresponsive state. You grabbed his wrist, and dragged him along with you, all while keeping him under the same umbrella.
—"I live nearby, you should dry up before you go home. If you feel uncomfortable in this situation though, just let me know and I'll leave you alone." You told the boy, as the two of you walked down the residential streets.
The boy did not know why he let it happen. He did not refuse when you grabbed him out of nowhere, and started dragging him along.
—
Not a single word was exchanged throughout the 3-minute walk to your house. The silence was surprisingly not awkward, it was quite peaceful, especially the added ambiance of the sound of raindrops hitting against the shared umbrella.
As you two finally arrived at the front door, you quickly closed and put your umbrella away, before grabbing a towel nearby to give to the boy.
— "Your name's Bachira Meguru, right?" You asked him, when you handed him the towel.
Bachira looked up slightly, his mind finally feeling less fuzzy.
— "That's me, how'd you know my name?" He asked you.
— "Just heard your name around from our school." You replied, not implying if people were saying negative or positive things about him.
The boy with the bob-cut let out a small hum, before drying himself of slightly.
— "Do you mind if I come in and take off my socks? They're practically dripping with water." Bachira asked you.
— "Go ahead, just try not to get the wooden floor wet." You told him, then led him towards the living room.
Bachira's rational thoughts had finally caught up to him. What was he doing in a complete stranger's house? Why would this random person even approach him?
— "So why exactly did you let me in your house? And were you watching me playing soccer?" He asked you curiously.
— "Just saw this poor guy in the rain alone so I wanted to help you out." You slightly chuckled at him. Bachira was slightly taken aback by your soft laugh.
"And Bachira, I could see it too." You softly mumbled.
"See what?"
"I saw the monster within you."
