———"And though it seems so quick and easy,"

::
"BADUMP! BADUMP!" The steady beat of your heart thumped against your chest like a base drum. You were out of breath, panting, and gasping for air, sweat beads rolling down the side of your face.

— "You gotta come quickly! Or you're gonna miss my game!" Bachira's voice rang through the speaker of your phone.

— "I'm REALLY trying here! I didn't think I'd get called to a meeting with my teacher today!" You protested, as you resumed sprinting down the street towards the stadium.

— "You better be in the stadium in 5 minutes! Y'know I can't play properly if you don't cheer me on." The boy whined from the other side of the line.

— "I'll... be... there... in 3..." You choked out, your words unclear from your constant movement, and you ended the call.

The blonde-tipped boy could only pout, thinking if you would be even able to make it to his game or not. After all, this was the deciding game for Bachira's team if they were able to make it to nationals or not.

— "Why do you look so down?" His teammate asked him.

— "Must be because of his partner." Another teammate called out.

— "He has a partner?!" The first teammate asked in shock.

— "Yeah, he talks about them every day, and they're basically attached together. I think their name was Y/n...?"

Bachira's head shot up at his teammate at the sound of your name, which earned some laughter from them. His cheeks turned a light shade of pink, embarrassed at his action.

But even still, his mind was only consumed of you, his guitar hero.

ERUPTION OF cheers spilled over the crowd as the final whistle was blown. The scoreboard of the stadium displayed a close game, 5-4. Unfortunately, Bachira's team was indeed the losing team, which meant they were unable to qualify for nationals.

You sighed, mentally preparing yourself for a sulky Bachira. You knew he would be upset over this for a couple of days.

And so, when you rejoined with him, Bachira ran into your arms, burying his face into your neck. As you predicted, you could hear him sulking.

— "Don't be sad, I know you tried really hard, and I cheered you on a lot." You reassured him, tightening your hold on to him.

— "I know, but it's just so frustrating. Our team could have easily made the last shot with my pass, but no one was able to reach it on the receiving end! Not to mention I got yelled at by the coach too..."

You slowly pulled away from the boy, and you looked at him, face to face. All you could do then was grin, as you were reminded with something better that could cheer him up.

— "Well, let's go grab some (favourite dessert) on our way home for now." You suggested, as you two both started to leave the venue.

— "Wait for real?" Bachira's eyes lit up instantly, a small grin slowly forming on his face.

Man, you loved his infectious smile.

— "As real as I can be." You giggled at him.

— "Sometimes I can't help but think you're actually my perfect soulmate."

You looked back at him, glancing momentarily at his face. Bachira stared back at you, eye contact being retained. As the moment passed on longer, you both could not help but burst out laughing.

— "Me too, Bachira, me too." You agreed with him, between your chuckles.

— "I just realized you still call me by my last name!"

— "I got so used to saying your name in that manner so often, so it never really crossed my mind." You admitted.

— "Well, just call me Meguru." He suggested.

You tilted your head, and gave it some thought.

— "I think I'll just call you Megu." You chuckled.

— "Megu? That sounds weird as hell."

— "Which means that's perfect for you."

— "What's that supposed to mean?!" Bachira shouted.

You just laughed, and continued walking with him, hand in hand now. At that time, it felt amazing to you. It was surreal, happening in real time, a core memory of yours forming at that moment.

— "You know, I've never quite met someone as similar to me before." You told him.

— "Similar? We're not really that similar! I'm a sports person, and you're a music person..." He asked, confused.

— "I didn't mean it like personality-wise, or interests-wise. I mean it like as in deep in our hearts. Like almost as if they are perfectly in sync with each other." You explained.

Bachira slightly nodded, understanding the gist of what you were trying to say.

— "I'll come up with a better explanation for it later. It's difficult putting such an intense concept into words."

As you two continued your journey that night to the dessert shop, both of your continuous laughter didn't stop.

That night, he was no longer Bachira to you anymore, but Megu.

And you were going to make sure it was going to be unforgettable.
