———"of each other's lives."

::
THE CONSTANT loop of feeling mundane and redundant consumed your thoughts. You couldn't help but feel as if every single day you lived felt like an endless cycle.

To you, there was never anything remarkable and out of the ordinary.

So, being at school even further encouraged your thoughts. The world felt monotone around you.

Just then, you remembered your promise to Bachira, where you'd meet him again today. This made you smile slightly, glad to finally see some change in your life.

Therefore, when the school bell that had indicated for lunch hour, you excitedly grabbed your food and visited Bachira's class.

-

Bachira did not fully expect you to keep your promise to him. However, when you ended up waiting for him at the doorway, he flashed the widest grin anyone had ever seen. The boy felt his heartbeat growing faster by the second.

He quickly stood up with his packed lunch, and walked out towards you.

— "Didn't think you'd actually come." Bachira admitted.

— "Why wouldn't I? I always keep my promises." You assured him.

— "I don't know, just never really had a friend."

— "I'll be your first."

The boy let out a small giggle, then proceeded to show you to his usual spot at lunch; a bench underneath a large shady tree, layered with many shades of green, outside on the school courtyard.

— "Wouldn't the bench be wet though? Remember how hard it was raining yesterday?" You asked.

— "I always carry a plastic cover with me when I'm at school, since this is my spot at lunch." Bachira pulled out a sheet of plastic and placed it over the bench.

— "Where do you sit if it's raining?"

— "Just at my desk."

A small silence came over the two, as you both sat down on the bench. You started eating your own food, Bachira eating his at the same time.

— "I thought you'd eat with your own friends today." Bachira spoke up suddenly.

— "No, I still haven't made any friends here ever since I just transferred earlier this year." You explained.

— "Why don't you join the light music club? You are a guitarist after all. Maybe you'd make friends there."

— "Yeah, I've tried. They didn't want me there since they told me I was too selfish of a player." You shook your head at the memory.
