The bell would ring as all of the students immediately filed out of the classroom. Max would lean off the wall and approach Professor Port, who was reorganizing his desk.
Max: "Some first years, huh?" Max would say as Professor Port chuckled.
Professor Port: "Well, you weren't exactly the most behaved first year yourself, Mr Vermillion."
Max would think for a moment before smirking.
Max: "Still one of the best."
Professor Port: "Sure. Sure. So, what brings you to my classroom, I thought you were helping out Professor Goodwitch."
Max: "Oh shoot, I was suppose to give you something." Max would say before reaching into his jacket and pulling out a small manila folder. "This just came in from the Vale regional research institute."
Professor Port would take the file before opening it.
Professor Port: "A new species of grimm? Huh...this one is aquatic in nature..."
Max would nod.
Max: "I believe they wanted your expert opinion on how to eliminate it."
Professor Port: "I will be sure to send them an email in the morning. Thank you, Mr Vermillion."
Max would nod and walk off, but stop at the door.
Max: "And professor?"
Professor Port: "Hm?"
Max: "Emails have a word limit, so try to not include a story in your testimony." Max would say with a smirk before walking out.
~RWBY's room~
Yang was looking out the window, while Weiss, Blake, and Ruby were huddled in the center of the room looking at a particular student's profile.
Weiss: "Well, I am actually unimpressed." Weiss would say now backing away from the holographic screen.
Blake: "A couple of notable missions, but nothing that is really noteworthy."
Weiss: "His grades are ok, but I doubt he is going to graduate at the top of his class, academically."
Ruby: "Guys! You are judging a book by its cover!"
Blake: "We aren't judging him by his cover, we are looking at the back."
Yang: "Why are we even still talking about him!" Yang would shout to her teammates causing them to all be silent.
Ruby: "Yang...are you still mad?"
Yang: "Yes! For what Cardin did to you! To how helpless I felt when that Max Vermillion-"
Blake: "Yang, everyone in that room felt the presence of that aura dragon, we were all afraid."
Yang: "But I shouldn't be! If I can't even handle an illusion, how can I expect to protect my teammates? To protect my own sister!?"
Weiss: "Yang, I think you need to go for a walk."
Yang: "You know what fine!" Yang would say before storming out.
Blake and Ruby would give Weiss that 'WTF' look.
Weiss: "What? Isn't that what you normally say when somebody is angry?"
~Beacon's Courtyard~
*Catch*
Max would throw a baseball to Velvet, who'd catch it with her brown baseball glove (with a little sticker of a bunny on it), before she threw it back towards Max, who'd catch it with his green and black baseball glove.
Max: "Sorry again for the fright." Max would say before throwing the baseball back.
Velvet: "It's fine, you needed to get the class attention, and that dragon does do a pretty good job in doing that." Velvet would say catching the ball before hurling it back.
Max would catch the ball, skidding back slightly.
Max: "You know, something tells me you don't fully accept my apology."
Velvet would only smile as she turns her head, her ears rotating as she did so.
Velvet: "Huh?"
Max would tilt his head before looking in the same direction as Velvet as a blonde haired girl stormed off.
Velvet: "Yang?"
Max:"Yang-oh that girl that started the fight."
Velvet: "She didn't start the fight, Maxwell. Anyway, I think you should go talk to her."
Max: "Why? I am not her assigned mentor." Max would say, referencing to how each first year team is normally assigned a mentor until that mentor graduates from Beacon.
Velvet: "Yes, but if you want to make it up to me, you will talk to Yang." Velvet would order as Max sighed.
Max: "You are scary when you are serious." The young huntsman in-training would say tossing the ball back to Velvet before making his way to go talk to the blonde.
~On one of the training grounds on Beacon campus~
Yang: "FUCK!" Yang would angrily shout before punching a training dummy square in its chest, sending it flying a couple of meters back.
Max: "Man down." Max would sarcastically say as he picked up the dummy's head that somehow detached from the dummies body. "Cardin is lucky to not have to deal with a punch from you, hotshot." Max would say before throwing the dummies head to Yang which she would catch.
Yang: "What do you want?" Yang would ask picking up another dummy before throwing some light jabs at it.
Max: "To talk."
Yang: "We have nothing to talk about." Yang would say before throwing a hard right hook at the dummy, almost tearing its head off before moving back to her light jabs.
Max: "Velvet thinks otherwise." Max would say, which caused Yang to stop punching the dummy.
Yang: "Velvet sent you?"
Max would nod, now approaching.
Max: "While I am a student at this school, my responsibilities as a teacher assistant requires me to be... more familiar with the emotions of my peers. I read your file, you have a sister named Ruby Rose, and from Professor Port's official incident report, you reacted the minute Cardin Winchester caused her to be humiliated in class. You are a guardian Yang, not only to your sister, but to your teammates as well. Your need to protect your teammates is always at the forefront of your mind, and I am sure that my...little act has caused you to question your role as a guardian."
Yang would look down at the ground, her red eyes now turning back to Iris as a hand was felt on her shoulder.
Max: "But I want you to know that the world need more guardians, and while your teammates are off getting into their dangerous adventures, I want you to continue to shield them from all the dangers both mental and physical."
Yang would look up at Max.
Yang: "Thank you, Max."
Max: "Anytime, Yang. Now report to detention."
