"Run! Don't stop!" The screams of terror filled the halls and flooded the house. I can't die this way I can't! I thought. I turned down the hall to my beloved bedroom and snatched anything I could find of value. I threw my Russian Dolls in my briefcase and the stash of money in my pocket. I heard more shouting from the end of the hall.

"Please no!" They cried. But wait... That was Valaria! Not her too... The pain was too much. I dropped to my knees and hid in my closet. I cradled myself in a sitting position in the cramped area. Make it stop. Why were they attacking us? Out of all the people... Mother always told me that life wasn't fair. Soon I was going to be put to death. I had to do something. I Grabbed my shoe and threw it in the opposite direction.

"They went that way!" They called as they trampled there way to the courtyard. As soon as they were out of sight, I ran to where my sister was at. She was hunched over on the floor hugging her stomach. "Val, what happened?" I asked calmly I didn't want to scare her anymore, sounding panicked.

"They came..." She said looking at the ceiling. "They took the Money. Our mother's wallet. They pierced my stomach with a knife." She clenched my hand and started to breathe faster.

"Please Val, don't leave me alone!" I cried. She was only six years old! She didn't deserve any of this. Just yesterday we were having fun and eating as much pudding as we could, now the sky was red, children ae screaming, and my sister was dying. I was the older sister! I'm supposed to be there on the ground!

Not her...

A wave of gilt washed over me. If only I was there! That was all I could think of. "Hold on! Don't move."

Everything ended that day. I lost everything...

But my courage.
