We've been hiking for hours, and my feet have blisters. "Can we stop and take a break?' I ask vulnerably. My legs felt like jelly as I struggled to keep up. There's only so much walking a girl could take.
"Come on! We just took one!" Adrean says peering at the map. Adrean was a very good drawer. "Plus, I did warn you."
I sighed. Fair Point. Mountains loomed in the distance. Bright green moss covered the ground like a blanket. Flowers of all colors and sizes grew all around us. The more time I spend outside, the more I love it. The trees sheltered us from the rain. If only we could stop and enjoy it. I rolled my eyes.
"It's night." I muttered "Thats an indication that we should go to sleep." Common sense.
"Don't make me regret bringing you." He hissed.
"I don't care what you think of me." I snapped "The Madam demands to rest!"
"It's only going to take longer If we stop! Every step matters. Come on." UGH. Selfish? After what seemed like literal years, the sun finally peeked over the horizon.
"Yes! Daytime!" I cheered as I twirled over some tulips. "You got food?"
"Ugh. Demanding!" He made the 'ing' louder than the rest of the word. It was funny. I giggled
"Sorry..." I laughed "Your funny!"
"Naturally." He said, taking a bow. We set up a picnic and ate the sandwiches he had packed earlier.
"So," I said through a bite. "What's your village like?"
"Well... It's made up of a strong leader who just so happens to be my dad."
"Really!? Wow! How does that feel?"
"Eh" He shrugged "It's not that big of a deal... My dad's great-grandfather was the founder of the village, so he took control of everything."
"Hmm..." I thought. "What's the village called? Maybe I've heard of it."
"Wardinvale. Pretty stupid name if you ask me."
"Hey!" I spoke. "I've heard worse! There's a city called Sextonville..."
"Are you for real!?!" He made an awkward face, and I cracked up. I laughed so hard I started to cry. "Oh, are you okay?'
"Are you kidding!?! I'm fine!" I said wiping away tears. "You're the best..." Before he could respond, I wrapped my arms around him in a tight hug.
