Kirishima Eijiro stood on his balcony, night air caressing his hair and skin.

The sky was clear for the night and so, the moonlight with the help of the streetlights lightened up the gardens and streets of the small neighbourhood.

They also lightened the house next to his own.

There, in the garden of his neighbours, stood two delighted parents and a confused and emotionless child with two Pro Heroes right behind.

There, in that garden, stood the family Fujibami.

They haven't been a family for four years, though. They haven't been whole for many weeks, days and months and they had somewhat forgotten how to be one, too.

Kirishima watched with silent tears and a burst of happiness as Sanae and Tanjiro Fujibami hugged their long-lost daughter, he watched as the broken parents finally got to hold their daughter. He watched the change of emotions in them, the crying from the parents and the silence from their daughter.

Kirishima and Miyako had been best friends long before she had been kidnapped.

Kirishima remembers the day Miyako disappeared as if it had happened yesterday. He remembers it like a fresh stab in his chest.

He remembers it because that night she and Kirishima were supposed to have a sleepover. Miyako's parents were supposed to finish up with the performance for the night and Kirishima's parents were supposed to take Miyako to their house.

Kirishima was with them, too.

He had been so excited, he remembers. He wanted to show her something new he had learned about his quirk and she was supposed to show him a new puppet she had created.

But when he went inside the backrooms with his parents, he didn't find an energetic Miyako.

Instead, he found two heartbroken parents sobbing on the ground, holding Miyako's favourite marionette with three Pro Heroes and police at their side.

That was the day Kirishima knew what grief felt like.

Kirishima thought that he'd never see Miyako again. He wasn't that optimistic in the past and he had his own self-doubts. It was Miyako that raised his spirit and now that she was gone, Kirishima suffered even more. If it hadn't been for that hologram he had of his favourite hero, Kirishima wouldn't have pursued the idea of going to U.A.

Kirishima never believed that she was dead, though.

She was just gone, erased, hidden.

And Kirishima, every chance he had, looked for her.

When he started to give up, to wonder that maybe she wasn't in Tokyo anymore, a big group of villains showed up at his rescue training in U.S.J, and Kirishima saw her.
