The ride home wasn't easy. Having a higher rank officer in your Crimson Camero was more awkward than I thought. Darius continued to be silent back through the forest, over the bridge and back into the city. Thoughts sprinted through my head rent-free; 'why was he here?', 'why did he ask for me?' and 'why on earth did the captain make me travel through the woods to get him?'. We soon arrived at our location.
"I'm not trying to intimidate you Xavier." Darius opened the car door.
"Pardon?" We both entered the police station.
"Your posture was straightened throughout the ride back, although you had been work for 13 hours." He informed me.
"Oh." I said.
The elevator rung loudly, opening the door to reveal a caffeinated station. People were running around from wall to wall. Files and sticky notes hovered in the air; each one confidential. Coffee machine must've been on.
"I'm guessing everyone's rushing somewhere?" Darius guessed.
"Nope, just one of those days." I replied.
I asked him to follow me to the captain's office, whilst dodging the flying files and staples. I could tell Darius was confounded. To be honest, who wouldn't be freaked out after seeing a bunch of high-speed maniacs working at an impossible pace. We passed officer Marcus; who was chugging down a gallon of hot coffee.
"MORNING RED! GOODNIGHT RANDOM-MAN-I-HAVE-NEVER-SEEN-BEFORE!" He yelled at us both before slamming his head against his desk, falling asleep.
"Concerning..." I heard Darius mutter.
"There we go!" I pointed at the captain's office who was solving his rubix cube, whilst ignoring the rumble outside.
"There's the old man!" He enthusiastically tackled the door in front of him.
"Andre!" He exclaimed.
"Darius..." The captain groaned aloud.
I shut the door behind Darius before returning to my desk. By my side lay two men deep asleep with coffee spilt all over their files. I hastily recovered the two papers from the swirling hot mess.
BANG!
A loud noise emanated from the captain's office. I quickly dropped the papers in my hand and grabbed my gun on my waist, dropping them on my foot. The same happened with the awake people. My foot's temperature was rising immensely.
"Arms down boys!" Captain presented himself smiling.
"It's the beginning of a new dawn!" He heel clicked in the air.
This was strange. The captain just did three things he had never done in a lifetime. Despite the burn in my foot, this shocked me a lot. Emphasis on the 'a lot'.
"RED! FORGET EVERYTHING THAT YOU'RE DOING RIGHT NOW! YOU AND MCKAYLA ARE HEADING TO IMPERIAL STATE PRISON!" He danced up and down.
A girl with black hair and brown highlights stood up. She carried a G17 by her waist. That was McKayla; my only age mate in this entire station.
"That's in America?" McKayla reminded him.
"I KNOW!" His smile widened even further.
"IT'S OUR BIGGEST CASE EVER SINCE THE PIZZA ORDEAL!" He screamed louder.
My foot was still burning.
