Working in retail already sucks, but it didn't help that I had to work behind the counter for people who were either buying new clothes or returning them because they didn't want them anymore, I would be lucky if they even had the receipt for their return. But one upside to this job was that I had the chance of meeting some cool people and learning the new fashion trends.

One day I was doing inventory in the back when the assistant bell at the desk was rung, I went out there and quickly said, "Sorry! We're understaffed at the moment and I'm the only one working today." I looked at the customer to see a man I recognized immediately, "Hey, are you Wilbur Soot?" The man quickly nodded and replied, "Yeah, and don't worry it's fine. I was just wondering if you knew where something was."

I had to quickly clear my head so I would actually do my job properly, "Um, yeah. What do you need help with?" I asked, "I was wondering if you guys had any, more comfortable wear." Wilbur replied, "Oh yeah, do you want me to lead you there or just point?" "Could you just point please?" I then pointed Wilbur in the right direction and went back to doing inventory.

A few other customers came in and some of them recognized Wilbur as well and had some photos, I wanted to ask but I didn't know if it would annoy him. After awhile Wilbur came with a single sweater, "Hello, here to check out?" I asked, "Yes, just this one." Wilbur replied while holding up a sweater that was identical to his signature yellow sweater. "Signature yellow I see. Do you mind if I ask for a photo with you?" I said, Wilbur smiled and replied, "Not at all." I quickly checked out Wilbur's item and put the cash in the register.

"Okay, let me go get my phone real quick." I said and then quickly grabbed my phone. Wilbur got ready and I took the photo. "Thank you so much! Please come again." I said and then Wilbur was out of the store.

The rest of my shift was dreadfully boring, A few ladies came in to complain about how the clothes they picked were the wrong size when we had a literal chart for half of the shit they were returning for what size might best fit you. I had to close up the shop that night so I was honestly a little scared, I've already hated the dark and I dreaded having to close up shop.

Once closing time came around I tidied up the place a bit and closed up shop. I pulled out my earbuds and synced them to my Spotify (Or whatever you use.) I began to play Your City Gave Me Asthma and started my journey home. I always listened to YCGMA when I had to walk in the dark because it calmed me down, and it felt different when I played it at night and not in the day.

I knew all of the lyrics at this point and was humming along to Jubilee Line when I made my way to the subway. I had to take the train home because my house was quite far from the shop, but it was the only job that would hire me so I took my chances with public transportation.

Once I stepped into the station I waited for my train to arrive, I had to wait about 15 minutes so I listened to the rest of YCGMA while I was waiting. I looked around the station to examine the people around me, there were some teens who looked like they had snuck out and been caught because they looked worried.

Once my train arrived I got on and found a seat, I played Jubilee Line again because, I mean, it's about the rail line so it just made sense. After a few moments the train stopped at the next station and picked up a few more passengers, I didn't really notice their faces until one passenger stepped onto the train, it was Wilbur. There were a lot of open seats available so I wasn't expecting Wilbur to even glance in my direction, let alone sit down near me.

Wilbur quickly looked for a place to sit and looked at me for a moment, I think recognized me because he then sat down across from me. "Um... Hello." I said shyly. Wilbur looked at me and replied, "Oh, hello. Nice to see you again." I laughed slightly and the train made its way to the next station. "Where are you heading to?" Wilbur asked, "Home finally." I said with an exhausted sigh, "It's weird to see you again, not in a weird way but I was lucky to even see you once."

Wilbur nodded and looked out the window, "Are you from around here?" He asked, "Um... Kind of. I'm from the north." I answered, Wilbur smiled a bit and continued, "Like my friend Phil." "Yeah, I guess." I replied again. I place an ear bud back in its case so I could hear my stop when Wilbur asked, "What are you listening to?" I looked at my phone and replied, "La Jolla." Wilbur looked a bit proud of himself when he replied, "Oh, glad you like it." I laughed a bit and was about to ask if he wanted to be friends when I heard my stop.

"This is my stop, great talking to you again Wilbur." I said, Wilbur stood up and replied, "This is actually my stop too." We both got off the train and I asked, "Do you want to be friends? If that doesn't sound to strange but you seem really cool." Wilbur chuckled and nodded, "Sure, give me your Twitter so we can keep in touch." He replied. And with that I had given him my Twitter and excitedly made my way home.

My roommate Vicky had a late-night shift so I knew that she wouldn't be home for hours. I was still so energized from my interaction with Wilbur that I didn't feel myself getting sleepier by the minute. I took off my shoes and jacket before laying on the couch to watch some TV. Soon though, my eyelids got heavy and I quickly fell asleep.
