How this world operates is that Humans and Hybrids are 2 different species. The humans are more superior in the society because they fear if Hybrids take over humans would be treated as poorly as they treat hybrids now. Although, humans did create hybrids. Hybrids came to be by an scientific experiment to combine human and animal genetic material to form the desired look. This does cause a lot of problems for most hybrids, like unproportionable limbs or genetic defects that can also inflict pain depending on the defect.
This society does encourage slavery and ownership, as human governmentals and upper class state "hybrids are more animalistic and shouldn't be treated the same as they are not fully developed mentally." No laws have been yet enforced to stop the abuse of Hybrids, although it is looked down upon by most as if abusing an animal. But that is depending on the specific hybrid of course. Hybrids can also legally be used as any work or entertainment systems, like in circuses, fighting arenas, or used for hard working or dangerous manual labor. They have no say in the society, it is usually up to their owner or if they don't have one they can get taken or sold. The most popular Hybrid species is dogs and cats, due to those being most regulated domestic house animals. The reason Hybrids are highly oppressed in this time is due to their animal like inhumane abilities. Although, Hybriphobics ( people who highly dislike or are afraid of hybrids) like to also blame appearance to the reason.
Overall, in this world Hybrids are highly mistreated and oppressed even though it has been proven of their capability to understand and have the same mental conscience as humans do. Barely any laws are place to protect them from abuse and neglect, the only ones are illegal mass breeding centers, and property laws normally for the convenience of humans. in the end, It is a sad time to be born a hybrid.
