* Overview *

Jyugo wakes up from a bad nightmare and falls into a panic. Thankfully, Uno is there to calm him down and comfort him.

Can be viewed as shippy or just platonic, whatever floats your boat.

The sound of a shrill cry had Uno jumping out of his sleep, exclaiming in shock and confusion. Looking around, his gaze was quick to fall on Jyugo, who was sitting upright next to him— hands gripping at his hair and body shivering all over.

"Jyugo?!"

Uno scooted over towards Jyugo's quivering form, and reached out to touch him. Jyugo flinched away when his fingers touched his shoulders, head whipping around to look at Uno so quickly it was a wonder he didn't get whiplash.

His eyes were wide as saucers, tears forming at the corners, and his mouth quivered as he panted rapidly. The sight had Uno frowning, carefully reaching out to put a hand on his shoulder.

"Jyugo, what's wrong?"

He asked gently, thoroughly worried as to why Jyugo was so upset. Jyugo just whimpered, closing his eyes tightly and turning away while continuing to breathe rapidly, just barely not hyperventilating.

Uno's eyes softened in gentle concern, and he scooted closer, wrapping his arms around the smaller male and pulling him in close. Jyugo opened his eyes and looked up at Uno, who looked right back at him, staring for a moment before sniffling and grabbing onto Uno's shirt, burying his face there and breaking into sobs.

"It's okay, Jyugo. It's okay. I've got you."

He quietly soothed, rubbing a hand against the back of Jyugo's head, while his other hand held his back, his thumb petting back and forth gently. Jyugo's hands held the front of Uno's shirt so tight that his hands quivered, and his whole body jerked with the force of his tears.

Uno was only mildly uncomfortable with the wetness that absorbed into his clothing. He could change his top after Jyugo was calm again. Right now, all he cared about was getting Jyugo back into a good headspace.

He glanced over behind him, at the slumbering forms of Rock and Nico, and wondered for a brief moment how Jyugo's scream didn't wake them up, too. They must've been in some real deep sleep to go undisturbed by such a loud cry.

Slowly, Jyugo's breathing eased, and so did his tears. Uno's quiet words of comfort and gentle touches slowly but surely calmed him down, and eventually, he was able to gulp in a deep breath, letting it out in a shuddering sigh.

"Are you okay?"

Uno gently asked, fingers carding through his hair in a soft back and forth motion. Jyugo slowly nodded twice, drawing another deep breath before speaking.

"I-I'm sorry for.. for waking you up.."

He whispered, almost inaudibly, hiding his face in the crook of Uno's neck. Uno cradled the back of his head against him, patting his back comfortingly with his other hand.

"Don't be, it's fine." He assured, "I was more worried about you. What happened, anyway? A nightmare?"

Jyugo nodded again, and Uno let out a coo of pity, moving a hand to draw his thumb across his cheek, drying it of tears. Jyugo let out the softest, most vulnerable noise of a whimper Uno had ever heard, and he swore he felt his heart crack.

"It's okay, Jyugo. It was just a dream. You're fine. Just breathe."

Jyugo hummed in acknowledgement, drawing slow, deep breaths until his breathing was completely normal. It wasn't long until he felt the wear and tear of his breakdown starting to weigh in on him, and he let out a quiet, tired groan.

"Wanna go back to bed?"

Uno asked, picking up on the noise he had made. Jyugo nodded once more, and Uno pulled back, helping Jyugo lay back down and get comfortable. With a soft sigh, Jyugo closed his eyes, and Uno pulled the blanket up to his chest.

Uno remained next to Jyugo, watching over him until he knew for sure that he was fast asleep. Only then did he return to his own futon, getting under the covers and snuggling up to get back to sleep himself.
