* Overview *

Jyugo has a crush on Uno, but is terrified of the thought of rejection potentionally ruining their friendship. His behavior changes drastically as he tries to shut out his feelings and hide it from Uno, but it isn't long until Uno realizes something is wrong.

———

Jyugo's had his eyes on Uno for a while now.

He remembers it vividly– the first time he got butterflies in his stomach and how his cheeks blossomed with warm blush one time when Uno wrapped his arm around him while gloating about his victory at a game in his recreation room.

Since then, Jyugo can't help but watch Uno from afar, intently watching the way his fingers expertly shuffle decks of cards, the way his long, luxurious braid flows over his shoulders, the way his bright blue eyes catch in the light, and more.

He isn't sure how, or why he started having these feelings for his best friend. It just started so suddenly, and it honestly frightened Jyugo. Mostly because he wasn't sure what to do about it.

He could tell Uno how he feels, but it's easier said than done.

For one, he isn't sure how he'd go about breaking this kind of news to him. Secondly, what if Uno is.. repulsed by it? What if he fucks up their friendship?

The thought of losing one of his most trusted friends over these newfound feelings scared Jyugo half to death. He didn't want to lose Uno. He didn't want to lose Nico or Rock, either.

So.. he decided to keep quiet. To try and ignore these feelings until they- hopefully- faded away.

But it was torture doing so. In the back of his mind, he was in a riot with himself.

Part of him felt like hiding something so important from his friend was a shitty thing to do, while another part of him felt it was better than risking breaking what precious closeness they already had by admitting his feelings.

These thoughts plagued his mind so terribly that it got to the point his behavior started to change. He grew distant, hesitant to spend much time with his cellmates. Specifically Uno. Instead, he just sat in a secluded corner and stared at them as they enjoyed themselves.

He broke out a bit more often than usual, as if trying to spend as much time away from his cell as possible, much to Hajime's displeasure. Poor Jyugo was clobbered on the head several times each day due to these escapes.

And to top it all off, he was just visibly down in the dumps. More quiet, antisocial.. depressed. These behavioral changes didn't have to go on too long before Jyugo's friends took notice of it with concern.

One day, Uno decided to confront him about it.

"Say, Jyugo," He started, walking up to him where he sat in a corner. "You've been acting really weird lately. Is something bothering you?"

"Ah.."

Jyugo tried his best to fight back the blooming warmth in his face at the soft, concerned expression Uno gave as he knelt down before him, turning away and lifting a hand dismissively.
