Re: Founder's Dydd Sale

CC: Haley C-50 MMUFor consideration of the Founder's Dydd celebration team, I've pulled the best explainer from last month's competition at the BA school. Although it does meander around a hill, it's in a flattering light to the founders; Elrin is quite gaining in the skills of spinning a negative, and I foresee a bright future in the SC for her.
Now, team, remember: As you consider performances for the Eisteddfod, the purpose is to appreciate our founders. Let Elrin's excellent example guide you, that there be no seditious commentary slipped through - and especially, remember that mentions of Uwd Madarchen are banned this year due to last year's incident.

When human survival is threatened, we are known to overcome our differences and create wonders. 700 years ago, with climate collapse well on its way, a brave group of thinkers joined forces to find a way out. This was the beginning of. Cyfaill Cywir, Inc - and of our society. They set about gathering funding and collaborating among the primitive social groups known as 'nations,' and sought the most talented scientists and engineers of the day. There were two clear goals: 1. Devise a way to survive in our devastated environment, and 2. Use that stability to build a fleet of ships, to find a permanent home. One done, and one well on the way!
It feels inevitable that Gwythyr ap Gwyrdd should head such a project. Gwythyr, after all, broke the barrier of communication between humans and mycelium, bringing us into the Madarchen age of living materials that respond to threats and discomfort alike. Before, this life was a constant cycle of making new things and then repairing them until they broke for good; And this is to say nothing of the constant struggle for food, waste management, protection from the elements. We live in a system designed to constantly produce and recycle all material human needs, and to keep our living situation constant so that we can do our work without interruption. And all this for 700 years!
Despite what a natural fit it seems, Gwythyr was an unlikely candidate to be chosen for the project; the very things which so suited them to their previously solitary work were absolutely disharmonious to a group; unyielding both intellectually and morally, and with great disdain for the monetary world that Cyfaill Cywir's founders had earned all their capital from - they were, to put it mildly, a poor fit for the social side of the job. While I shall not repeat the colorful words they levied against the founders during that first interview, surely you hear them ring out in the lower corridors when our younger residents are feeling lively. The interview fell flat. The committee commenced to arguing. Disharmony looked to win the day.
And yet, Cyfaill Cywir was not without genius of its own; where others saw no path forward, President Lowri H. Wainwright, saw places to build a bridge. Through the management of her simple bresych merchanting business, Lowri had mastered the art of human relations; she knew she had to meet Gwythyr where they were, and she did - showed up at their little home in Rhondda Valley, and refused to leave until she had exhausted all their concerns. Then she returned to Cyfaill Cywir to do the same with the other Founders.
Within a week, hands were shaken, and the work began.
The work that followed was hard - but our founders were up to the task. As we face our own challenges, let us also be up to the tasks before us. As we mark another year over, let us do Lowri and Gwythyr proud with renewed effort, teamwork, and commitment to starward progress!
