The act of translating Russian into coherent sentences was proven to be a more difficult task for Ashley Parker, who believed that her ability to comprehend the Latin alphabet and her experience of living beside a chaotic family of East Europeans would be enough to sharpen the non-existent skills that she proclaimed to have. With every hour that she was forced to sit in the cramped back room, the symbols on the whiteboard had begun to appear as mere scribbles to her mind that was heavy with exhaustion.

The teen girl originally thought that occupying the role of transcriber was a great idea, desperately wanting a break from the droves of entitled customers that swarmed the ice cream parlour like hungry vultures but she had already begun to regret her decision as soon as she had sat down in the uncomfortable plastic chair. She let out a depleted sigh, the feelings of idiocy heavily looming over her figure as she sunk into her seat in an attempt to provide relief to her aching back that could no longer handle her hunched over position.

In this current moment, Ashley couldn't help but feel like a complete idiot, not wanting to believe that she had let a pretty girl convince her into doing something that could only be deemed as a waste of time. She believed that there was practically no way in hell that the Russians would be so intrigued by a mediocre town like Hawkins, which was barely important enough to have its name showcased upon a sign on the interstate. But one look at Robin and she agreed without hesitation, hoping that would be enough to receive the attention that she so desired from the girl.

There was no denying that Robin Buckley had practically become a symbol of infatuation for Ashley, who could feel her own heart threatening to explode within her rib cage with every gentle touch and smile they shared. She didn't expect to experience any form of love upon moving to Hawkins, believing that only misery loomed in her future but she had practically become consumed by the colourful emotion within the first interaction. It was in that moment that she declared that she needed to do anything to get the other girl to fall in love with her, even if it was as stupid as her current situation.

Ashley was mindlessly flipping through the translation book for any word that peeked her interest as she listened yet again to the low mumbles of Russian that filled the air. The tape had practically been played on loop for hours at this rate, being rewound as soon as the last breath had been taken audible before the line had been abruptly cut, evident that the speaker had finished the recording. She was on the verge of clawing her own eyes out, irritated by the repeated phrases that had become imprinted in her mind against her will.

"Wait! That last part!" Robin's voice had suddenly broken the concentrated silence that settled between the group. "Just one more time."

Dustin merely nodded in response, picking up the tape recorder to rewind the audio to allow the teen girl to re-formulate her thoughts. The calculated phrases of Russian filled the small room once more, the male on the other end speaking in a calm manner as if he was accustomed to the words that he was uttering. A bright look of realization suddenly appeared on Robin's face, a clear indication that she had been able to cipher the foreign sentence.
