The air was thick with silence in Hawkins, a drastic difference from the lively atmosphere that it was usually known for. It was practically akin to a ghost town with how unusually silent it sounded, almost being deprived of any kind of life but the intense emotions of grief had taken a strong hold over the inhabitants, practically silencing them into a state of shock. Life was anything but normal for them right now.
The town was currently suffering from the worst tragedies known to mankind, the loss of one of their own. Her name was Chrissy Cunningham and she was only sixteen years old, practically too young to be greeted by death. She was like any other teenager, she had hopes and dreams but those were unfortunately ripped away from her by this cruel world. Her death was unexpected, nobody wanted to believe it at first but the gruesome reveal of limb body made it reality.
Even Ashley Parker had shed few tears upon hearing the horrific news. She wasn't friends with the girl but they had spoken a few times in passing since she was dating her step-brother. In the short moments that they had shared, she could easily tell that Chrissy had a soft soul. She was kind, too afraid to even raise her voice but yet, this cruel world had chosen her as its next victim. She was so young and so innocent if you were to ask the Parker girl.
But the worst part about this entire situation was that one of her closest friends, Eddie Munson, had become entangled in this complex case. He had been framed as her killer, despite there being a lack of evidence. All they knew was that her body had been found in the Munson trailer and in the authorities' eyes, that made him a clear suspect. They were quick to pursue him as if it was some kind of sick manhunt.
Eddie Munson was terrified at the thought of being hunted by the authorities for a crime that he didn't commit. He had practically fled from the scene as soon as he had caught a glimpse of the horrors that almost seemed straight out of film but yet, people believed he had done it. He knew that he could never step outside without wandering eyes following his every move. His life was practically over and there was nothing that he could do about it.
The male didn't know who he could trust, feeling as if the entire world had turned against him. Even when he had been discovered by the group of teenagers, he was doubtful of their intentions, believing that they would just hand him over to the authorities. That look never left his eyes, no matter how hard they tried to assure him that they were indeed on his side. It was just a tense situation that they were struggling to navigate together.
Dustin awkwardly cleared his throat, causing everyone in the room to turn their attention towards him. "So we got . . . some good news and some bad news. How do you prefer it?"
