My temper faded to a slow churning in my blood, but frustration was still there. I stayed near the back of our formed tourist group with Ao'nung, Tsireya, the child -whom I found out was Tuktirey- and the youngest brother -Lo'ak- at the front, Rotxo and the other girl, Kiri, in the middle, and the oldest, Neteyam, and I close beside them.
Rotxo decided to ditch Ao'nung, because of his clear crush on Kiri, and chat her up. She did not seem enjoy his company, but she still paid an effort in their conversation.
That left me to attempt in talking to Neteyam.
He stared about, lips parted in wonder, eyes wide in curiosity, athletic body walking confidently beside mine, which could easily dive elegantly and swim as far as possible. "If you keep looking far and wide, you may not see the obstacles right front of you." I say, my tone abruptly soft as I admire his astonished ambience.
"Huh?" He asked, as if my voice brought him back from such a deep and vivid dream. He looked at me with those blazing yellow eyes that bore profoundly into my soul and shook it at its wits. But I smile, a wide grin without unveiling my teeth, and go and stand in front of him, face to face, and place my two hands on his chest. I stopped him before he fell off the edge of Awa'atlu's hand woven path.
I giggle at his fluttering eyes that examined my careful hands and then the edge. He nervously chuckled and scratched his neck, not saying anything.
"Come, if we do not hurry, we will lose our siblings." And with that, I took his hand in mine and dragged him mildly to the group ahead, where Rotxo finally gained a hint of Kiri's trust and pointed about, clearly guiding her. Along with Tsireya, Ao'nung reluctantly followed her into informing Lo'ak and Tuk.
"Look, just there, see. The sandy spot." I still hold Neteyam's hand, unknowingly, and point ahead to a bare spot of the beach with my other finned hand.
"There?" He directs a long, blue finger to the same area, as if he doesn't recognise our intertwined hands either.
"Yes. That's the best spot to witness eclipse. I've been there before, multiple times, and it's absolutely beautiful. You should go there sometime, perhaps I can show you tomorrow?" I look at him, with an edging smile of pleasantry and scouring eyes that intently devoured every inch of his face.
It seems we've stopped once more, and the air thickens in unmistakably foreign feelings, and his stare fixed on me.
"Tomorrow?"
"You want to know the secrets here, don't you?"
"Secrets?"
"You are going to be living here, right?"
"Yes, b-."
"Then you may as well get to know every inch of my village."
"You sure your brother is okay with this? We saw... what happened."
I bow my head, take a quick but deep breath. I then glance back up. "I apologise. I'm not usually like that and.. no doubt he'll tell my father. But that is okay, because I know that he wasn't accepting of you. I apologise for that too."
He smiles. "Y/n, you don't have to apologise. It takes a lot to stand up to family."
A smirk tickles my lips, I liked this boy. "It does..." We continue to walk with me feeling strangely shy and Neteyam having not one clue. "You're not freaks, either, by the way." I mumble loudly.
He looks at me and we share a secret beam.
I gasp before we pass and important stop."Oh! And there! I'll teach you how to hunt because that spot is full of fish and..."
Sorry if that took FOREVER. School work was piling and piling and i also had assessments that ran on and on.
But now I'm out of ideas. I'm begging, any suggestions - SHOOT! I need them.
Love you lots!!
