Chapter 11

When we reached halfway to the city, I called the helper in Vikranth's place to clean the room in Anitha's place and also to fill up the refrigerator and prepare some dishes for dinner for six people.

"No need to stay after that. Thank you!" I said after giving the instructions and glanced back to find Shrishti fell asleep again but this time laying her head on Nitish's shoulder and he too drifted off into sleep.

As I stared at Anitha, she is also resting along with Prathap. I turned back to glance at Vikranth asking, "Shall I drive? You are driving from the morning."

"Vikranth!" I called him again as he continued to stay silent.

"No need!" he replied and didn't make a sound after that.

"Okay! Let me know if you want me to." Saying that I leaned on the window to stare outside.

I know, I unnecessarily delved into past matters and it is not even my place to say anything to Nitish but worrying about Shrishti and mainly Vikranth made me wish to do something and that's the only way I thought Nitish would accept all this.

Maybe, I shouldn't have got involved at all in this. I will just leave when we reach Anitha's place and just think about my work.

Let them deal with things as they wish and I will just ignore everything else related to his family issues.

But... I don't know whether I can actually ignore all that. Maybe in the past, I didn't care but right now I care about these three friends.

I care not just about Vikranth but also Prathap and Shrishti. How can I not care when they are good to me? I understood their past actions and as they didn't mean anything to me, I didn't get that much hurt except when they brought up topics about my character and all.

Now, everything is in the past and I know they still feel guilty. Prathap is always trying to be there completely attentive whenever he sees me. And this stupid Shrishti went to those lengths to bear the torture from those people just because of her guilt towards Anitha and me.

So, they both may be not as important as Anitha but they are important. And it's fine to have more friends if they care about you. So, I ended up doing all this and even made Vikranth upset.

And instead of calming him down, I brought up past feelings and said whatever came to my mind that I didn't think even exist in my mind.

"Hungry?" I glanced at Vikranth in surprise hearing his voice.

"No! We will reach soon and I already asked your helper to make something for all of us." I replied staring at him.

"Okay!" he went into silent mode after that.

When we reached the house, I woke up others and everyone walked into the house but Anitha suddenly glanced at Nitish asking, "Why are you coming into my home?"

"Anitha!" I called her to stop but she continued saying, "Okay! I will allow for today."

"Don't say anything to her. She is right in her place. This is her place after all and I am already taking advantage of her." Shrishti said reaching my side.

"I will talk to my Dad after he returns from his business trip. I want to tell him everything personally but I don't know whether Nitish's Dad will beat me to it." She added with a worried look.

"If he does, then your Dad will call either Vikranth or you. Why worry about it now? Also, I am not forcing myself to let you stay here. You are Prathap's family and even I like you. So, don't think like that. I am not comfortable with him and that's all." Anitha said holding her hand and took her inside to show her room.
