This school doesn't change, it's the same four walls, the same people, the same story
This year wasn't going to be any different
I walked into the corridor to see it already filling with people, some new faces but that's not surprising but ultimately, it was the same cliques, the same routine
It's was boring

"Hey man!" Hunter cheered the moment I got over to him and the boys. West, Hunter, Eldon and I have been friends ever since the day we first started school. Eldon and I had known each other since we were babies
The four of us were a dream team in most cases
"How was your summer?" Eldon asked making me nod remembering it all vividly
I don't think there is a second of it I would have changed at all

"Riley, you can't be serious? It's the first day you do not need the library" I heard a voice said making me look behind the boys to see Riley stood there with her best friend.
That was my summer
Riley and I got to spend the entire time together on the same beach we met on the summer before. Turns out our family wants us to turn that into a yearly tradition and if the last 2 years are anything to show, I would have no objections to that

Riley shut her locker before turning to her best friend to say something, it wasn't audible to us seeing as Riley is the quieter of the two but the moment she finished she glanced over at me with a subtle smile on her face
The same one I loved seeing through out the last school year
We've been together for a year now and the foundations we have are solid, a lot more solid then any relationship in this place but that's because nobody knows and nobody can bring their nose into it

I offered Riley a small wink as she passed with Michelle tightly behind her, that one wink was enough for her cheeks to fill with a small amount of blush as she turned back to her friend while I turned back to the boys

"So if this beach trip is becoming a regular occurrence, when do we get to tag along?" West asked
"Family only I'm afraid I said opening my locker taking out what I needed before closing it again

"Boys" Another familiar voice said, but this time it was not a voice I wanted to hear
"Beth, Jenn and Phoebe. To what do we owe this pleasure?" Hunter asked making me roll my eyes at him
We all knew what they wanted, neither of us wanted it
These three have always tried worming their way into something with one of us. It happens every year like clockwork and it never works

Well.. It may have worked once which is how we know never to do that again

"Has anyone heard the newest?" West said as we sat in our spot in the grass that lunchtime. We had a clear view on anything that went down form this one spot
We could see the tables in the courtyard, the people on the grass, the people on the tarmac. Nothing was out of sight at the moment
"What's that?" Eldon asked throwing a crisp into his mouth leaning back against the tree
"We have a new guy joining our science later on" He said making me shrug

"We had him in English earlier, seems like he's just going to stick with the brainy kids so he won't make much of a difference" Hunter said making me roll my eyes

This is exactly why I've persuaded Riley to keep this entire thing a secret, because of people like Hunter
They are all so caught up with the idea we all have our place in this school when honestly we don't
What we like, what we enjoy doesn't define us or shove us in a bracket
But yet here it's what they use to single us out
And it's safe to say Riley and I aren't on the same pathing here

"Speak of the devil" Eldon nodded making us all look over to the entrance to the field, there this guy stood. Tall, blonde, blue eyes, nothing extraordinary
But I wasn't really looking at him...

"Thanks for showing me around Riley" The guy said as the pair walked past all of us heading towards Riley's group of friends
"It's okay Bradley, this place isn't the easiest place to get the hang off flying solo" Riley said smiling at the guy not even noticing we were sat right here

Hunter made the assumption that he wouldn't be anything to worry about but something tell me that isn't the case in my books..

I watched as the pair continued until they for over to their group. Riley instantly took a seat next to Michelle while Bradley sectioned off to Daniel and the boys. I couldn't help but be thankful that there was some distance between the two of them
"What's got your head in the clouds bro?" Hunter asked making me hum in response before looking back to see all three boys looking directly at me

"nothing, don't even worry about it" I said before feeling a vibration in my pocket meaning my phone was going of. Or someone had at least text me

I looked up from my phone again to see Riley looking directly at me with a small smile on her face while she rolled her eyes at me before Michelle snapped her attention onto something else

This is why this works. Neither of us ever have to worry about something like that happening. It never would happen
