God, I'm tired, I thought to myself as I placed unusually high price stickers on some items in the gift shop. I'd been working at the Mystery Shack for the summer- a job I'd grown very fond of. It was on days like this, however, where I had to seriously remind myself that it was a good job. There had been a lot of customers and, by the end of my shift, I was wiped out. I only had one more customer to help out before I could go on break.

I stepped behind the register and smiled at Lazy Susan as she placed a Mystery Shack bumper sticker on the counter.

"Hello, Lazy Susan!" I smiled. She was one of my favorite people in this town- she's just so sweet! "Will this be all today?"

"Yes, thank you, little one!" She replied, digging her coin purse out of her little handbag.

Hehe, she called me little one, I thought to myself. Lazy Susan always called me sweet pet names, being a nice old lady, but today it was causing me to feel a little bit regressed.

"Alright, that'll be $5.99." I told her, mentally wondering why a bumper sticker would be so expensive. Stan, obviously. I love the guy, but the prices in here are a lot.

"Alright!" She handed me the money and I put it in the register as she said goodbye to me. "I'll see you around, kiddo! That's a very cute outfit, by the way!"

"Oh, thank you so much!" I smiled, my voice rising in pitch a little bit. "Have a great day!" Thankfully, she didn't notice me talking a little more high-pitched. The pet name plus calling my outfit cute was just the cherry on top, and I was now slipping.

I headed into the large, empty room outside the twins' room. The large, triangular, red window loomed over me as I sat down on the bench in front of it. I wish I had a bench window, I thought to myself as I set my backpack in front of me and pulled out my pacifier. It was a light green pacifier. I took off the dust cap and popped it in my mouth.

The twins are out in the woods, I think, Soos is fixing the toilet, Ford is working on something in the basement, Stan is giving tours, and Wendy is working the gift shop now, I told myself mentally as I pulled out a coloring book and some crayons. I think the coast is clear!!

I lied on my stomach on the floor and started coloring in my coloring book. I'd completely slipped now- I was mentally around the age of four as I used my pacifier and colored in a picture of a giraffe, kicking my feet behind me. I was so focused, I didn't notice the door to the twins' room opening.

"Are you making the giraffe rainbow?" I heard Mabel ask. I jumped upon realizing she was standing over me and looking down at my drawing. We made eye contact as I awkwardly spit out my pacifier. I was about to cry until she started talking. "Oh! Oh!! Are you a regressor too?" She asked.

I slowly nodded. She grinned and ran back into her room before coming back out with a pacifier, coloring book, and pack of crayons of her own.

"Do you want me to sit by you? I'm feeling a little regressed myself!" She offered. When I nodded excitedly, putting the pacifier back in my mouth, she lied on her stomach and opened her coloring book.

I watched her put her own pacifier in her mouth- it was pink and had rainbow colored sequins glued on it. That's very Mabel.

"Cute paci!!" I mumbled with my own pacifier still in my mouth.

She looked up at me and grinned, taking her pacifier out to respond. "Thank you! I like yours too! If you ever want me to decorate it, I can do that!" She responded, her voice also more baby-ish, before putting back in her pacifier.

After we both finished out coloring pages, Mabel hung both of them on the wall by her bed. We both giggled as we admired our work. Mabel had colored in a picture of a butterfly, and she'd used exclusively glitter crayons. It was very on-brand for her.

She smiled and bounced a bit. "What do you wanna do now?" She asked, mumbling under her pacifier.

"Hmm..." I thought to myself. "Do you wanna watch a cartoon?"

"Yeah!!" She smiled, pulling me over and knocking both of us down on her bed.

We giggled as we sat up and she grabbed her laptop. We eventually agreed on which cartoon to watch, and she handed me a stuffed animal of hers as the episode started.

"(Y/n), can we do this more often?" Mabel asked after some time.

I nodded happily. We both smiled as our attention turned back to the cartoon.

This summer just got a whole lot better!!
