Chapter 1: Carotid Fountain

Izuku Midoriya, or Deku, was working on an assignment when the need to use the bathroom emerged. He impatiently waited on the bell to ring. When the end of the school day was signaled, he made a beeline for the closest restroom. It was out of order. Midoriya sighed and walked downstairs. 

He finally managed to get inside a stall and empty his bladder. After he finished, he went to wash his hands. A toilet stall opened of its own accord in the mirror above the sink. Midoriya did a double take. He glanced over his shoulder. 

Hands seized him, covering his mouth and restraining his upper body. Then pain punctured his neck. He fought against the powerful arms binding him. He struggled free but had lost too much blood. The wall crumbled behind him as his attacker was flung into it. His body was going into shock as he moved away from the restroom. His vision tunneled as he fell. Midoriya did not rise. He was prone in the middle of a hallway, bright red blood pooling on the floor and soaking his uniform.

Shota Aizawa, Izuku's homeroom teacher, was used to the child getting into life-threatening situations. Only those occasions had never led to anything like the scene he found. A blood trail caught his attention first. Aizawa, too, had found himself in need of a toilet. He found a line of crimson leading from that bathroom. Inside was a disaster zone. A person lay unmoving in a large pile of rubble that had likely come from the giant hole in the wall. Blood was splattered everywhere. Aizawa extricated the person. He found the serial killer that had been on the news lately unconscious. The killer was known as Vampiric Bite because the victims' blood was drained from two deep puncture wounds in their necks and appeared to have been sucked out. 

Aizawa knew how to put two and two together. He followed the blood halfway across the school, running as he went. At the end of it, his student was also unconscious. Izuku Midoriya was in a pool of arterial crimson. The puddle was not large, but that meant nothing. Midoriya was millimeters away from never opening his eyes again.

In first aid, the number one step in any procedure is: to remain calm. Aizawa did this. He then made sure Midoriya was safe to approach. Aizawa approached. Midoriya was unresponsive, but his pulse was discernable. Good. That meant that Midoriya was alive. For now, anyway. Aizawa called an ambulance.

Class 1-A had been winding down after a long school day. They had noticed Deku's extended absence. He had been spotted heading to the bathroom, but he should have arrived ten or fifteen minutes later than they had, not over an hour. Deku's classmates were getting worried. Bakugo couldn't have cared less, but he was Bakugo. At least, Bakugo was unconcerned until All Might made a grave announcement.

" Young Midoriya has been hospitalized." Questions exploded from multiple mouths at once. "Shut up so I can continue. I'm just as worried as you are." The class fell silent. "It was that new serial killer, Vampiric Bite. His real name is Inizio Himura. Young Midoriya encountered him." Tears began to spill over Uraraka's face. Bakugo looked nowhere near as angry as he usually did. Iida's hands were shaking in white-knuckled fists. He looked like he would attempt vengeful murder. Again. Todoroki stood next to Iida. The look on Todoroki's face was scary. He looked as though he wanted to help Iida. All Might continued. "He's in critical condition, and he might not..." All Might's voice failed him.

In General Hosu hospital, the doctors were confused. As Izuku's medical condition worsened, his physical state improved. The bite wound in his neck had become scar tissue before he was admitted to Trauma One. (Worst place to be in at the hospital. It means you're in serious trouble) His heart rate was slowly dwindling to zero bpm. His arm bones were healing to a point where they were in better shape than ever. The only indicator of repeated breakage was on the outside. His right hand was still crooked and scarred, and his shoulder was as scarred as it had been. Izuku's skin became paler.

A cardiologist came up with a theory. Logan Barry, an American-born doctor, began to speak. "Perhaps, this phenomenon has something to do with Himura's quirk." A pediatric nurse, the only other doctor in the room, Patton Baker, also from The United States, responded, "What are you thinking, Logan?" Logan put out his idea. "I think Himura's quirk made him a genuine vampire and that he can pass that on to others. I believe Himura has no choice." "What makes you think that last bit? All the other victims are dead." "Yes. Perhaps Himura had a way to ensure his victims could not return but could not do so this time," Logan pressed. His theory was proved accurate.

Izuku Midoriya opened his eyes. He was no longer in intensive care. He was in a private room. Inko, his mother, was sobbing in the corner of the room, seated in a chair. He sat up. He felt no fatigue despite earlier events. He felt powerful, as though he could easily pick up the cot he was lying in and jog with it. His mother came first. "Mom. Don't cry." Inko's sobs paused. Then, she stood up. Izuku was wrapped in Inko's arms. He hugged her back. He knew he had survived the most deadly encounter he'd had up to that moment.

Or had he survived? Was he alive at all?

Wow. Just short of 1,000 words. This is the longest chapter I have ever written. 

Yes, Logan and Patton are from Sanders Sides.

I finally gave Vampiric Bite a name. I didn't do that in the original text. Inizio is of Italian origin and translates to "Beginning." I chose that because he begins the story's lore. It also hints at the Italian vampire legends. Himura means "dark red blood" and "cities." That name was chosen because Inizio Himura is a serial killer and a blood drinker.

I also took healthcare courses and was able to be more accurate with the hospital scenes.
