The mission should not have gone this terribly. Looking back, it was apparent that the request itself had likely been a trap, the information saying there were drastically fewer enemies than there were. Not only that, their arrival had seemingly been expected.

Originally Gajeel and Levy had been planning to take the quest, but Mira had insisted that Erza come along as well, since Lily was doing something with Happy and Carla that weekend. Gajeel had originally protested saying he was strong enough on his own, but Levy had been excited to go on a quest with Erza since that opportunity so rarely occurred, so Gajeel shut up about it.

Once they had arrived in the town, Erza had run into Jellal who had come to that town tracking down the same dark guild that they were sent to eradicate. That was how the four of them had ended up storming the dark guild that was supposed to have around 20 members, only to realize that there were several hundred.

The guild hall was built into a large cave system in a costal mountain, and they quickly realized that the hall was much more vast than expected, with the entrance near the top of the mountain, and the twisting hallways and rooms going all the way to sea level.

Now Gajeel and Levy fought back to back, surrounded by around 30 masked people. Luckily these wizards were weak compared to many of the foes that Fairy Tail had fought in the past, but what they lacked in strength they made up for in numbers and the advantage of knowing their way around their guild.

Erza was separated from everyone, surrounded by a group of enemies, though she had managed to knock out and subdue several dozen so far. She was panting as she requiped again, changing from Flame Empress into Armadura Fairy armor. She had been fighting with Jellal until they had seen the guild master run through the cavern they were in, rushing down into the depths of the mountain, and Jellal had ran off in pursuit.

Meanwhile, Jellal chased the man down the curving stone stairs. The stone became more and more slick as they descended. The man ahead of him stayed just within his view, darting around corners, and down more stairs. The thought crossed Jellal's mind that the man was leading him, wanting him to follow, but it didn't matter. This man was incredibly evil, if rumors were to be believed. He was sadistic in the extreme, and the things he led his guild to do had to be stopped. The man in front of him suddenly sped up as they stepped off of the stairs and into a long straight hallway. Jellal quickened his pace as well, going as fast as he dared on the slimy floor. The hall smelled of sea water and dampness, and he guessed he must be close to the bottom of the hall now.

He saw the guild master dart sideways through a door, and followed, pausing for just one moment to try to catch his breath. Jellal entered the room and saw the guild master standing in front of him a smirk on his pale lips.

"Jellal Fernandes. So pleased you could join us!" The man said, his voice raspy and harsh.

"How do you know my name? What do you want with me?" Jellal demanded, trying to hide how winded his run had made him.

"I've wished to speak with you for quite a while. It's such a pleasant surprise that I get your girlfriend and her little friends as a bonus." He sneered.

Jellal opened his mouth and searched desperately for a response. Yes, he loved Erza. He always had, but she wasn't his girlfriend. And yes, little could be applied to Levy, but Gajeel was huge!

He shook his head, realizing the man was just trying to distract him. His thoughts felt slow.

"Why do you want to speak with me?" Jellal demanded.

"Jellal Fernandes. Infiltrator of the council. Murderer. You killed your own friend I believe. You unlocked the weapon Nirvana. You really are quite a villain aren't you? And not to mention, you even tried to kill your own, precious Erza." The man recited each item like he was throwing a dagger with his words. Jellal's fists clenched.
