Hmm. A strange white void, just like the Solver's mind. You were perhaps thinking that everyone's mind was a blank void. You stood there for a long moment, before a white slab rose out of the floor, reminiscent of the Solver. The slab flickered into life, a blue outline appearing. Then, some sort of catalogue appeared.
Lets see...fifth birthday...becoming friends with Lizzie...there we go. The awakening. You tapped the option, and another flash of light enveloped your visor.
Towering dead skyscrapers loomed over you, Copper 9's twin moons illuminating everything. You couldn't feel your legs. Or anything, for that matter. For some reason, you were running. Unhinged laughter echoed behind you, from a voice you recognized.
V.
You stopped at a crossroads, desperately looking around. Without warning, you dashed right, hiding behind some distant rubble. As soon as you managed to climb inside, you heard two distinct footsteps. Two drones came into view, running ahead. At this point, you had guessed you were Doll. Or in her perspective, anyway. Let's see, from where this was going...Doll's parents were going to die.
However, red code overtook your visor, covering it in seconds. They blocked your vision, then overtaking your senses. It was like a high frequency sound wave bursting into your audio receptors. You would clutch your head from the pain, but you were forced to be in someone else's perspective. Oh, perfecting this technology was going to take a while.
By the time the red code had cleared, you could only witness the end result of a Disassembly Drone mauling. Doll's visor flickered, and the Solver's symbol appeared. The memory ended, and you were expunged from Doll's mind.
You came back to your body and...immediately regretted it. You felt the effects of your battle again, and the concrete in your spine. Functionality was at the bare minimum...but you could still move all four limbs normally. But, in your recovering state, you remembered the memory.
The secret. It was trauma. Doll had witnessed their parents murdered, and that awakened the Solver. Your eye twitched at the inconvenience. You obviously didn't get it at birth, but the goddamn apathy or lack of emotion or whatever excuse you gave yourself at this point had robbed you of scientific opportunities.
And V. She couldn't ever know about this.
Immediately, your emotion suppression kicked in.
Reevaluating...weighing variables...Solution found. The suppression made you think logically for a few seconds. You were grateful your virus worked. You didn't know what was wrong with your emotions this time. The solution was to use Uzi as a test subject. She had the same thing happen to her. Obviously, unpredictable variables would be in place, like her teenage-ness and general behaviour among other things.
"Y/N, we needed her for answers!" Uzi ran up to you, N following not far after. "Any answers that were needed, I can find in her memory banks." You tried to hand her the hippocampus, but she evidently backed away out of disgust. "That's a robot brain, why did you do that?"
"I needed to find out the source of the things she just did. I found them." You couldn't tell Uzi just yet that she had her powers. Full analysis of Doll must be conducted before Uzi can even begin to be experimented with. The Solver could have unseen side effects.
"Besides, the connection is obvious. Uzi, eventually, you will have to do what Doll does."
Of course, like you usually did, you began to theorize what made Uzi and Doll different. Perhaps it was a direct perception of the killing...no, many younger drones had their families slaughtered in front of them in the pre-bunker era. Perhaps...it was deep connections to family. The trauma of them dying must have cut so deep, it awakened something inside of them. Your eye twitched again out of frustration, but you decided that Uzi would be a suitable test subject next to yourself.
