Morning. Shared breakfast. Finally, a quiet joy lit up in my soul. Theo, how can you not feel it? Don't you feel the same?

"You forgot the keys that day."

"I wonder why?" I objected indignantly.

"What? Is it because of me?" he even pointed a finger at himself, as if he couldn't believe his own ears.

"What did you do before that?"

"Ah... you mean that?" as an example, he touched my cheek again.

"What are you doing?" and I caught my breath.

"I don't know myself," Theo shrugged without releasing his hand.

"You..." I found the courage to clarify one important thing, but my voice betrayed the uncertainty lurking inside, "...do you feel something for me?"

"I don't know, Beomgyu... Sometimes I don't understand myself, what I do at all," he chuckled.

"Just like that?"

"Never mind," my friend ruffled my hair and grinned.

What, is he kidding?

Theo opened the gate and stepped out onto the path.

"I'll lock it up and leave the keys with you. You can sit in the house or in the garden. In general, have fun!"

"As you command."

I forced my laughter out of myself, closed the gate and waved goodbye to him:

"Bye."

"Yeah, bye."

I watched from behind the sea buckthorn and plum trees as his back moved away. When he was out of sight, my old enthusiasm flared up. It all started with watering the beds. There was a lot of grass, but I did not dare to mow it. Then my eyes fell on the beans, overgrown with weeds, and I realized what I would do with myself for the whole day, after getting rid of sneakers and socks. I felt freedom. The dirt path warmed my feet pleasantly.

After five in the evening, it occurred to me to cook dinner on a fire. But I didn't really know how to light a fire, so I began to cut vegetables and herbs. At that moment, Theo returned from work. He found me barefoot, cutting onions. A teardrop ran down my cheeks. I heard a soft laugh and immediately looked at the guy. I wanted to have time to manage the vegetables before his arrival, make myself look good, or at least wash my feet...

"You're so funny now," he laughed.

"Listen, could you bring me a napkin?" I asked, closing my eyes.

"Yes, sure."

A doily was in his outstretched hand. And after wiping my face, I finally saw Theo, and on the table a lemon soda.

"I went to the grocery store. It's hot today."

"She must be warm already. Maybe put it in the fridge for now?"

"I have a better idea. My grandma always threw a bottle down the well, it got so cold afterwards!"

"Will you be able to get her out?"

"Certainly! I'll put it down in a bucket," he grabbed the bottle and headed for the well.

I somehow finished cutting the caustic onion and sat down waiting for the guy.

"Did you water?" Theo asked.

"Wasn't it necessary?" for some reason I got scared.

"I usually add fertilizer to the water, but thanks anyway! You, most importantly, do not pour on the leaves of tomatoes, otherwise they will turn black and rot."
