Kay lay on the couch, flicking the channels up and down on the TV. She couldn't settle on anything to watch and that was because she knew she had to go out later, she was heading to the doctors office to have her legs checked over. Since the mission has ended, she and Agnes had taken a little time off. Mostly because Kay couldn't really walk anywhere for a few weeks whilst her legs heeled, and that was just ruining her life.

She had been in so much pain but was thankful to be alive, something she definitely would not be without Jake. She felt like she owed him the world and now that he was practically living with them, she was always making him food and bringing him drinks and making sure he was good. It wasn't any different from her usual house manners but she would constantly ask him if he needed anything. They had a bizarre friendship now, especially if they went out together and people just automatically assumed he was her brother or gay bestie, but when he was with Agnes, everyone knew they were together.

"What time is she heading out?" Jake kept his voice low as Agnes washed some breakfast dishes. "She looks extra sad today, I feel bad."

"I know." Agnes nodded. "I think it's a mixture of having to go to the doctors and also Steve telling her he couldn't make it this weekend." Agnes thought back to the moment Kay launched her phone across the living room, a huff escaping her as she rolled her eyes. He had told her he couldn't make her birthday weekend, having already agreed to some work from before he had met her and it wasn't something he could back out of. She'd been so angry because it was the first birthday weekend she had looked forward to, the though of spending it with Steve had made her want to actually do something but as soon as he said he couldn't make it, she didn't want to do anything except drown in her pity party for one.

Jake sighed as he took a wet plate from her, drying it. "We should try and cheer her up."

"We could make her a birthday cake and maybe take her out for dinner?"

Jake smirked. "Why don't we order in and do a birthday dinner for her and obviously make a birthday cake, would she like that?" He made a thoughtful face. "Just with her legs, I know she doesn't really like going out and walking about in the boots if she doesn't have to."

"She might like that." Agnes nodded. "I'll ask her though, she fucking hates surprises and-"

"Who hates surprises?" Kay asked as she walked into the kitchen. She looked pretty funny in her PJs with boot braces on, a now normal accessory she had rocked for just over a month.

"You do."

"You'd be correct. What's going on?" She asked as she walked over, lifting herself up onto the bench next to Jake. "Why you talking about surprises?"

"We thought we might bake you a birthday cake." Jake smiled and slapped the side of her leg with the back of his hand, making her punch his arm. "Ow!"

"Well don't hit me."

"I'm trying to be nice! I was gonna bake you a cake." He folded his arms. "And I didn't 'hit' you, it was a love slap."

She snorted. "Jensen, you're so weird." She looked at Agnes. "Your taste in men is just bizarre. Did you know that?"

"He's cute though." Agnes smirked. "And you're one to talk, he's like your other best friend! But back on subject, we were gonna bake you a cake for your birthday. We could maybe order from that Italian place you like and have a birthday dinner at home, what do you think?"

"Well I have no other plans, do I?" She sighed and Agnes made a sad face. "So sure."

"He really can't make it?"

"Nope." She shook her head. "I don't feel like he has plans either, I just have a feeling he's lying to me and I'm wondering if he even likes me. Maybe since leaving the jungle he's realised there are hotter people in the world and--"
