"Your not fighting, you pulled a muscleor something?" Jake asked as he and Valentine was onto a huge empty field of green.

"He's doing it for me." Bella stated, standing closely beside the vampire.

"Whatever, just tell us the plan." Jake said eye going to Jasper.

"This field will give us a advantage. We need to lure the newborns with Bellas scent. It need to end here." Jasper explains, standing hand behind his back like one might think a soldier.

"You know, Jas, you'd probably make a killing if you where a tiny toy solder." Valentine says, looking at that vampire intensity. The silence after that lasted a few minutes before Jasper gave a hard nod.

"Thanks."

"Welcome." Valentine smiled, white teeth and all. There was a silence again before Bella spoke.

"Edward and I are going on a camp sight. Even if he carrys me they'll still pick up on our scent." Bella explained, eyes flicking to Jake shirtless form.

"Your stench however is revolting." Edward says, a grimace on his face as he look the shifter up and down.

"Dude you really don't want to start compering stinks, you smell like steel blood half the time, don't know how my sister deals with it." Valentine says, leaning closer to the vampire before taking a small wiff. He pretended to flinch back, horridly gaging at Edward smell. Jake full on belly laughed,

"What he means," Bella begans, "is that your scent will mask mine if you carry me." She finished.

There was a tensed pause. "Nope, naw, nota, and no." Valentine said, shaking his had valiantly as he shielded his pup from the eyes of his new found enemy's.

"Come on Valentine, I'm not interested in Jake." Bella groaned but Valentine shook his head even harder.

"I see they way you look at his sexy as fuck abs. No way in hell are you getting all up close in personal with my wolf." Valentine growed, hands possessively closing around Jake's waist.

Jake chuckled, before asking, "can't you just mask her scent like you did mine?"

"Fuck do I wish. I can't do it on her, I tryed to make her smell like rotten eggs when she said my cooking was as tasteless as my personally, but it didn't fucking work!" Valentine snarled, throwing his head back dramatically.

Jake laughed, and laughed even harder when Bella made a offended little gasp, and laughedeven harder when Jasper started to chuckle.

"Valentine, they wouldn't want to get anywhere near his... smell. So unless you want your sister dead, then the is a must." Jasper said when he stop his chucking, standing straighter.

Valentine grumbled something under his breath, before nodding his head begrudgingly.

"Ok, lets go." Bella said, before going to Jake and letting him pick her up.

"Run." Edward instructed.

Jake rolled his eyes before he took off, Valentine using a spell to keep up.

When they where far into the woods, Valentine decided he needed to talk.

"You gonna asked me to stay out of the fight as well, you don't care about my safety?" Valentine asked as they slowed to a walk. Bella looked over to him before saying, "of course I care about you, but you would just say no."

"Not like I have much of a chose. I don't want the whole town to burn. And Charlie's gotta be safe."

"I get that, but honestly, what are you really gonna do to help?" Bella asked, rolling her eyes. He could see Jake's jaw tick at her words.

"More then you think, I promise you." Valentine sneered, snapping a flame of fire into existence before waving it away.

Bella gasped, looking at the non existing flame in awe.

"I can do much more then that, but between all the elements, fires the easiest, meaning waters the hardest. But that's perfect from taking down vamps." Valentine explained. Bella didn't say more as the walked.

"I couldn't smell a dame thing besides wolf stench." Jasper says, walking back to Bellas overprotective boyfriend.

"Ok." Edward said, look tense. Jasper sighed.

"It gonna be ok." He says, his country accent showing a little.

"Yeah, I know." Edward nodded, but the tension didn't drain from his body even a little.

"Sooo... umm, your sister told me a few thing." Charlie said when Valentine walked into the kitchen. Valentine raised a eye brow, he sandwich only a few inches from his mouth.

"Whatd she tell you?" Valentine asked, before talking a bite.

"Well... she said that you where... you know," Charlie prompted, motioning with his hands like that would make Valentine release what Charlie was trying to say.

"Uhh, nope dad, I don't." Valentine laughed, shifting his weight on on foot.

"That you were sexually active."  Charlie said, not making direct eye contact.

"Uhh, yeah.... that's true." Valentine said, a small flush on his face as he started to fiddle with his hands.

"Uh, yeah, I just wanted to tell you to use protection." Charlie said, seriously, not in the joking manner he'd said it last year at prom.

"Yes dad, I'm definitely using protection." Valentine assured as Vasco started to meow.

"Welp, thanks for the.... talk, but uhhh, I gotta go buy a fish and pretendto take it on a walk." Valentine joked as he backed away into the living roomto go upstairs.

"Uhh, ok." He heard his father reply.

"Fuck!" Valentine jumped when he saw Jake laying in his bed, asleep and holding Onyx to him.

Valentine let our a breath, happy to see he didn't wake him up.

He had already taken a shower, only in shorts. He tiptoed to the bed, before climbing on, making as little noise as possible.

Valentine wrapped himself around the shifter, taking a deep breath. He didn't know what in the world the vampires where smelling, because Jake smell fantastic, like.... home.

"Good night. I love you." Valentine whispered. Jake did reply, but snuggled back into him, a tiny mumbled leaving his lips.
