"Val," Jake mumbled, sweat covering his entire body.

"You shouldn't talk, your in pain." Valentine said, going to sit at the edge of the bed.

"I'm fine, but I miss you." Jake smiled, eyes more focused then Valentine would have thought after just screaming his lungs out.

"I missed you to pup, how are you feeling, and please. Don't say your fine." Valentine said, voice soft and full of poorly hidden concern.

"But I ammmmm." Jake whined, pouting like a child. Valentine sighed, shaking his head, but it betrayed the small affectionate smile on his soft lips.

"So, your not in pain?" Valentine asked, touching his forehead. It was more hot then what was usual, but that made since all thing concerning.

"I'm mean, yeah, but it one hundred times better. I promise, Carlisle said I'll be fine in a few day." Jake explained, and Valentine smile wider, pleased.

"Good." There was a comforting silence for a few minutes before Jake shifted.

"You ok?" Valentine asked, eyes alert. Jake chuckled, before nodding.

"I'm fine... hey, what happen to the vampire girl?" Jake asked, head tilted in question.

"Well, he's waiting outside, but he seems fine physical. I don't know about emotionally though." Jake raised an eyebrow, before he frown.

"Why, is he.... ok?" He asked it like the thought the kid was in trouble.

"I dont know truthfully. I do know his mom was a bitch who wanted a girl and made him act out her sick fantasy. Also, the Valtory may or may not want him dead." Valentine explained.

"Why does the Valtory want him dead?" Jake asked, eyes growing even more concern. Valentine heart fluttered. The boy was Jake's mortal enemies, and he was still worried for him.

"Because, he's supposed to be. The valtory let Victoria try and do there jobs for them and failed, so now they want to wipe the evidence. Kalen is the last evidence, but I don't know if they saw him or not." Valentine explained, hand twitching to touch.

"That... makes sense. If you want to protect him, so do I." Jake said firmly and Valentine grinned.

"Of course you would say that. And yes, I do want the kid safe." Valentine said, before standing up.

"Where are you going?" Jake asked, starting to get up.

"Stay," Valentine commanded, and Jake stilled. "Good boy, I'm just going to bring him in, he seemed to want to meet you." Valentine said, before giveing Jake a soft kiss.

"Fineee, be back quick." Jake pouted, before giving a childish grin.

"I will pup." Valentine promised before walking out.

When he was outside, the wolfs all had there attention on Kalen, but not just him, be Seth too. Valentine watched as Seth cut a hugh chunk of Kalen hair off.

"I-is this short enough?" Seth triped over his words, holding the long hair to Kalen. The oys hair was just short of his sholder, and he smiled brightly.

"That perfect, thanks Seth!" Kalen smiled brightly, Seth blush, but grinned back.

"Thanks," Seth said.

Valentine walked over, before he use his magic and the scissors flew out of Seth hands and into Val's. Valentine grimace at the scissors, before he tucked them in his jacked pocket.

"Don't be mad at Seth, I told him he could." Kalen mumbled, his head down, eyes glistening with fearful tears. Valentine heart hurt for the boy because to admittedly assume Valentine was going to be mad meant life definitely hadent been easy for him.
