Chapter 9:

TINASHE POV:
I wake up and I hear a knock on my room door. It was August.
" babe, can I talk to you?" asks August
" yea, what's up?" I ask
" I love you beautiful so much and it would mean the world if you would go to prom with me" he asks
" of course, this early to ask me that" I say
He hugs me and gives me a kiss and hands me some flowers, I put them down, then he takes out some diamond earrings.
" yes, and give you these I love you and I had to ask right away because I really do love you"
" thank you and I love you too, and I love the earrings they're beautiful" I say
" that's why I got them, because you are beautiful" says August
" awwwww well, what color are we going to wear?" I ask
"  haha, really, well any color you want" he says
"  yep, and ok, what about pink" I say
" what, no" he says
" I know, I'm just kidding ok, I want us to wear black and red" I say
" that's my brothers favorite colors " he says
" I know " I say
He hugs me and I walk to my closet . I get dressed because today is August's brothers funeral. August is already dressed for it. I put on an all black dress with some all black red bottom heels. I then grab my black bag and I grab my keys and we head off. A couple minutes later we pull up and it was a lot of people there.
" come on babe" I say
We get out the car and he takes my hand and we walk in. Me and him put on our glasses on and he grabs my hand after putting our glasses on and we walk inside the room. A lot of people walks up to him and kisses him in the cheek. After that we take our seats in the front row. I hold August arm tightly because I know it's hard for him to hold tears in. I then stand up and I tell him to come with me. We walk out to the hall way. I then hug him tightly as he cry on my shoulder.
" babe, look at me" I say
He looks up at me and his eyes is red and puffy and full of tears.
" I know you're hurting, but I want you to be brave, your brother was an amazing person, you're up next to speak and I want you to know I'm going to be up there next to you to make sure, you're good I love you" I kiss him in his wet lips and I hug him tightly.
" I love you most " he says
We then walk back in and take our seats.
" up next we have his brother August Alsina" says August cousin
August and I get up and we walk up to the stand. I grab his arm and I kiss him before he speaks.
" we are gathered here today,paying our respects to being broke, hope he's in a better place, cause life out cha ain't sweet, let's pray please - our father who art in heaven, Melvin I hope he made it to your presence, for me he was a blessin' at least I know he's restin' and he ain't out here stressin' tryna' get to the good life and out of this hood life thank you lord for getting him out the pain and I hope he's by yours side amen" August prays
We go and sit back in our seat and I kiss him because I was proud of him. We finish off the ceremony. When it was over a lot of people gave me a hug and gave August a kiss on the cheek.
We head back to the car. We head back to his moms house for dinner.
We pull up to his moms house. We walk inside.
" babe, I'm going to go chill with the girls in the kitchen" I say
There we all boys in the living room so I left. I walk in the kitchen and everyone looks at me.
" This is my baby August girlfriend she was there for him through thick and thin" says August mom
" hi" all the girls and women say
" hi" I say softly
" So I hear you got August to go to church" asks August mom
" Um, yea it was tough but I got him to do it" I say
" You have got to teach me" says August mom
" He is praying more often and letting God in his life" I say
" wow, you are really an angel from the heavens" says August mom
" Thank you, um do you need help with anything" I ask
" Um, yea you can chop up the onions" August mom says
I get to chopping and me and the girls continue talking.

I sit down on the couch.
" you iight bruh" asks my cousin T
" yea, I'm good" I say
" it looks like you got a good girl by your side, and you gotta keep her" says Cousin T
" I am, but uh, I'm about to go and check on my baby I'll hola at yaw leta ok" I say
I walk into the kitchen and I see Tinashe chopping up onions and I just had a thought of her cooking like that everyday and there's kids running around and a ring on me and her finger. That's when I jump back to the present time.
" hey ma, smells good what yaw making" I ask
" green beans along with collared greens, peach cobbler, salad dressing, and you're favorite your moms famous chicken wings" says my mom
I hug Tinashe from behind while she's cutting up the onions.
We eat dinner I stay home and she heads home.

I grab my bag and slip on some Jordan sandals and I head to my car. I hop in and I pull off to go and get August.

We pull off to the store and I turn my song on. Nicki Minaj " want some mo"
I turn it up and I bump it.
We then pull up...
We walk inside.
" hello, welcome to men's footwear and suiting, how may I help you" asks a guy
" um, we're looking for some black suits to dress him in" I say
" ok, prom, wedding, etc" says the guy
" um prom" I say
" ok follow me this way" says the guy
We follow him to the suits.
" ok, I need to measure you and I need you to tell me your height and what size shoe you wear" says the guy
" uh, I'm six foot one, and I wear a size 12",says August.
" ok, step up here while I measure you" says the guy
" ok, 185 cm and um ok, got it all let's pick out your suit" says the guy
We head over to the suits and August see this suit that catches his eye. However the price tag said 322$, so he just kept walking. I could tell he wanted badly. So I picked it up.
" what are you doing" asks August
" You like this, so we're getting it, um we'll take this one" I say
" oh wonderful, no one actually bought that one they just look at it and keep walking, so finally we got a buyer" says the guy
"Um, we're not buying it sorry" says August
" Yes we are, um one second" I say
I then grab August and I pull him off to the side.
" You ain't buying it" says August
" Yes I am, we're splitting the cost and we're getting it, I already have my dress and my shoes and I already have my hair, makeup, and nail appointments scheduled, this is just extra money I don't even need" I say
"Ok fine, BUT this is the only time you are buying something for me..I love you" he says. He then gives me a kiss.
" Thank you, and I love you MOST" I say
We walk and we pay for the suit. We then find some black shoes for him and we get in the car. I couldn't wait to get in the car, because I have a surprise for August.
In the car:
" Babe, I have something to tell you, it's a surprise I did for you, and I promise this is the last thing" I say
" Ok what" he says ready to hear the news
" So my dad has a friend who knows a record label and he talked to him and the guy who owns the record label wants to hear you sing" I say
August hugs me and kisses me like six times.
" the downside is that you have to write a new song by Sunday which is in two days" I say
" Uh, well I got to get to work" he says
" Wanna go to my place so you can have a place to write and play the piano" I ask
" Yea, please" he says
" Anything that helps your dream I'll do" I say
We pull off and we head to my house. We get the bags and we take them inside. We walk upstairs to my room and he puts them on my bed. We walk to the piano in the extra room.
" Babe, I want the song to be a surprise" he says
" Ok, good luck and don't rush" I say
I give him a kiss and I close the door behind me as I walk to, my room.

I want my kinda first song to be about her. So I start just singing and I see what comes out.

I then realize that I need to make a chorus. So I start thinkin' and thinkin' what to add. Well I'm black so imma add tattoos in my song. Oh got dee.

I continue writing. I decided to write about us before and after we together. I then realize I got my song.
I go and I walk up to Tinashe.
" I have my song" I say
" Well that was quick, are you sure because you did that really quick. Actually too quick" says Tinashe
" I wrote about us, so when you have everlasting love, it shouldn't take long" I say
We then head back to her room and we cuddle and watch a movie.

" BABE, BABE, GET UP TODAY IS THE RECORD LABEL THINGY THING, COME ON GET UP PLEASE. IT STARTS IN 30 minutes." I say
August gets up body aching.
" Are you ok" I ask

" Here I set out an outfit for you " I say
He gets dressed and we get in the car and we pull off.
We head off to the meeting.
" good luck I'll be out here when you're done" I say

He then gets out the car and started walking in.

I walk inside. The place is huge. It's made up of a lot of windows. I walk up to the receptionist.
" uh, hi oh um, how may I help you" asks the receptionist
" Yea, um I'm hear to meet with Mr. Riley" I say
" Ok, up to the eighth floor the room with the double doors with his name on it" says the receptionist
" Ok, thank you " I say
" No problem at all" says the receptionist in a flirty way. I just keep walking.
I get on the elevator and a girl gets on the elevator. I press the eighth button. Her hand touch mine when she press the seventh button.
" Um, sorry" says the girl
" It's coo'" I say
" Meeting with Mr, Riley " she says
" Uh, yea" I say
" Well good luck, he could be mean but my advice is to not look at him, he will stare you down and trust me you will get nervous" she says
" Um, you part of the label?" I say
" Yea, but I can help you out, I can talk to him" she says
" Thank you, but you don't have to" I say

Should I tell her, I don't think Tinashe would be made I'm giving her my name not my number so.
" August, August Alsina" I say
" I'm, Onika, and I gotta go, good luck " says Onika
She gets off on her floor. She had black with a shred of pink hair, big chest and a big butt.
I then get off on my floor. I walk to the double doors and there's another receptionist she was just a little younger.
" I'm here to see Mr. Riley " I say
" Hello good looking you can go right in" says the receptionist
What is up with these girls bro. Wow, it's like I'm water in a dessert.
I walk inside and he's sitting there, with like nine bodyguards.
" Well don't just stand there come one, boy I got other people to hear now let's go" says Mr. Riley
I grab my music sheet and I sit my the piano and I start playing.

When I'm done he starts clapping.

"Uh, I don't necessarily have a manager" I say
" I like you so, I'm going to pay for your manger just, meet me here tomorrow at the same time "

I shake his hand then I leave.
I then head back to the elevator. I push eighth button then the door closes. Then the doors opens on the seventh floor, then Onika steps in.

" It went, dope" I say
" That's awesome, maybe me and you can do a song" she says

" I'm a rapper, you never heard of me?" She says
" No, I have been laying off rap for about 12 years, what's your name" I ask

The elevator opens up and then I step out.

I the walk back to Tinashe car. I get inside.
" So, how did it go" Tinashe asked
" It went tight, he said and I quote " I like you " and he's paying for my manager " I say
She hugs me tightly
" Oh my gosh, I am so proud of you" says Tinashe
