This will be a really short chapter, a parenthesis in the story. A little bubble of happiness for Henry and Zero
April 17th 1960,
Zero and Henry are searching the whole Rainbow Room because today is Easter. Usually, at the lab, we don't celebrate anything but for once Brenner allowed to organize a Egg hunt for the kids.
Zero and Henry decided to make a competition to see which one of them was going to find the most eggs.
At the moment, Zero is pouting because Henry found more eggs than her, and he did so because he used his powers, which according to Zero is not fair.
Once they've found all of the eggs, Henry put both of their finds in common. Zero looks at him in disbelief.
"What are you doing?" she asks
"We're sharing" Henry shrugs
"No, you found more than me, that wouldn't be fair to you" she answers
"Anya, I want to share with you" he says smiling
Zero smiles back and start counting the eggs when Henry put a good amount on her side "This is for you, I'll keep the rest"
"But... it's not a fair share" she says
"I don't care, I want you to have more. You deserve all the chocolate in the world" Henry says smiling.
"Thank you" Zero says before hugging Henry. He hugs her back. Their hugs are always so powerful and bring joy to both of them.
Zero takes an chocolate egg and eat it, she enjoy every moments of eating it, we can see the joy in her face which makes Henry smiles. They don't often have treats at the lab, they only have chocolate for Christmas and Easter and chocolate is Zero's favorite treat.
For Easter, Brenner brought them bonnets with Rabbit ears, Zero did put hers on but Henry didn't, he doesb't really enjoy those kinds of "mondane" activities, but he is really happy that Zero can experience a bit of happiness.
"In your Easter bonnet, you're the grandest lady celebrating Easter" Henry says with a smile. Zero blushes and smiles back at him.
"You should wear yours" Zero says excited
"I would look ridiculous in that" Henry says
Zero makes her most convincing puppy dog-eyes. Henry knows he can't resist her puppy dog eyes, in fact, he can't resist her at all so he makes a pouting face and puts the bonnet on. Right after he did, Zero kissed him on the cheek and Henry blushed.
"I'm the proudest fellow on Easter day" Zero tells Henry
Henry looks at Zero dead in the eye before saying "No, I am the proudest fellow on Easter day. You're such an amazing person Anya, please never change."
"I didn't plan on it" she smiles with a smile that reaches her ears.
"Happy Easter Anya" Henry says
"Happy Easter" she answers, mouth full of chocolate.
