LIZZIE LOCKWOOD LAID with her back against the grass as she listened to Sarah's yelps every few seconds. She was currently in the backyard of her cousin's house, her head tilted one way so she could watch Sarah swing around a tennis racket at the birds. When Lizzie came over to ask what she was doing she said she was trying to save the mice, Lizzie called her a moron and the blonde ran in the opposite direction waving at the sky.

Angered stomps and grumbles came from the opposite side of her making Lizzie turn her head. Wheezie came into view and she playfully pouted at her "awh, Wheeze what's the matter?"

The younger girl rolled her eyes "the Wi-Fi's not working. I can't post anything!" she threw her hands up in frustration. Lizzie leaned up on her elbows and watched her in amusement. Ward, who had walked around the bushes with Lana Grubbs, heard the girl "Wheezie, there was a hurricane, sweetheart."

"No! No! No!" Sarah exclaimed loudly as she failed to divert the birds away, almost landing face-first into the shrubs. Lizzie laughed and fixed the sunglasses laid on her face so they were sitting more comfortably. "This isn't a laughing matter, Elizabeth!" the blonde yelled at her cousin, pointing at her with the racket. She had managed to stand up right and gain stability to continue her goal for the morning. The brunette could only continue to laugh.

"Sarah!" Ward exclaimed in confusion at eldest daughter "what are you doing?"

"The burrows filled with water from the surge. The birds are having a field day!" just as she said that one whizzed by her head and straight into the bushes. "Its the mouse genocide out here...No!"

"It's the cycle of life is what it is, sweetheart. Come on." he gestured for both girls to come over to him. "I have to save the mice, daddy." she whined dropping her racket. Lizzie snorted as she picked herself up off the ground and made her way over to her uncle. "Maybe you should stop because you're failing miserably."

Sarah flipped her off as she made her way over "l would've been better with some help! You just sat on your ass–didn't even take the racket I gave you."

"Excuses." the other girl teased, sticking her tongue out to piss her off even more. Before Sarh could say something else, Ward stopped them from going further "girls! I have an actual human being for you to help."

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" Sarah gasped, now noticing a lady standing there in complete distress. She was picking at her nails and couldn't stand still–it was enough to tell Lizzie that something was wrong.

"This is Lana Grubbs, Scooter's wife." Ward introduced her to Sarah. The two shook hands and Lizzie gave a small wave. She had known the women because sometimes when she worked at Heywards shop she'd come in and have a little chat after buying some groceries.

"You guys were storm prepping with him, right?" Ward asked and his daughter nodded "yeah, he helped us latch the cabin on the druthers."

"Last night?" Ward asked, making the two nod their heads. Confusion washed over Lizzie, having a small feeling in her gut that something bad happened.

"He didn't go anywhere after that?"

Lizzie widened her eyes in shock "no! Why would he, there was a hurricane."

"Did he say where he was going? Or get a phone call or mention anything?" the women asked desperately. Sarah shook her head apologetically "he didn't say anything to us. I'm sorry."

"Did something happen?" Lizzie questioned, looking sympathetically at the women who couldn't give her an answer. Ward waved her off immediately and moved Lana away from the girls  "no, he's probably just hunkered down somewhere."
