The Getaway Plan

Noeul had texted when he walked in the door that he was just going to wash up and then he would call and they could facetime before bed. Now freshly washed and dried he propped himself up in bed for the call. There was something exciting about it, even if he had made a call like this hundreds of times before, it was like it was the first time. He wondered if he should take his shirt back off, but decided that wouldn't seem natural. Boss's text came in a minute later asking if he was ready and who wanted to call who. Noeul fanned his face to try and clear away the flush before he hit the phone icon.

Boss answered immediately. Also reclined on his bed, and stunningly, without a shirt on. Noeul wondered if it was that Boss was more comfortable with him, or that he was teasing him, he liked to think it was a little bit of both.

"Hi!" Noeul said brightly, and maybe a bit unnaturally.

"I'm just gonna put on some music," Boss replied as he sat up, crossed his legs and pulled his open laptop closer.

"So... um."

"So, 'Eul. I was thinking, we should go away somewhere. Just for a day trip or the weekend or something. We can just take the car, go to the beach and just have some breathing space without going too far away. You said you wanted to go to the mountains before, but that's a bit far right now. And we can't be away too long. What do ya think?" He was talking a mile a minute and his attention was more focused on his laptop than his phone, but he was clearly very excited about this idea.

"Uh, yeah, ok, I'm in. When-"

"Oh good! Ok,so, I found a place that we can book for Thursday to Saturday," He turned the phone and laptop screens to meet each other. The image of a beach resort with a welcoming entryway and a covered patio was looking back at Noeul. "It looks pretty nice and quiet. We can get a small cabin and breakfast for both mornings for a good price, and it's only about 2 hours away."

He turned the phone screen back to show his wide grin and excited eyes.

"So, should I book it?" He asked.

"For Thursday? As in 2 days from now, Thursday?" Noeul replied.

"I think that was why it was such a good price, I know we have that photoshoot on Thursday but we can leave straight from there and make it before dinner and then we have no work until Sunday evening. If you don't want to-" Boss leaned forward to grab his laptop again, slightly moving the phone screen absentmindedly to chest height. A chest that was currently bare.

"NO! I mean, no, I want to go.." Noeul interrupted "with you." He was pretty sure his cheeks had flushed a bit, but he pretended not to notice and adjusted his hair to make it seem like he was just being casual.

Boss also pretended not to notice, because he too was blushing and smiling more than normal. He stared into the laptop screen as he typed in all the info he needed, trying to hold in a little chuckle, as he did.

They chatted about music and the usual things about their day to decompress after work. Boss had to get up to scold the cat and when he came back to the phone he did a reenactment that had Noeul rolling with laughter. Noeul talked about some cool cars he had seen and sent Boss the links to the pictures of the ones he liked best. They made plans to meet up for lunch after Boss went to the gym in the morning, and only when they both started yawning did Noeul look at the clock to realize it was nearly 2 a.m.

"We should get some sleep." He said through a stifled yawn.

"Ok, you hang up first." Boss teased as he removed his glasses and rubbed his eyes, his contacts long abandoned.
