They had always been there in plain sight. The reminder he was a failure. That he was just a stand in. That he wasn't accepted. But yet, no one had noticed these scars.
Except for one. That one blonde girl. Maka, to be exact. His best friend. The only one who seemed to notice when he was in pain. The one who knew when he was doing anything stupid.
The one who had cared.

And this is what caused Soul to have feelings for Maka.
All that she did for him. She found the place where he felt he belonged.
And he had never thanked her for it by spoken words, but by actions. He wasn't the most talkative type. He kept his music up and the world out. That's just how he liked it. My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, Green Day, and many more of the 'screamo' bands, blasting through his headphones.
"Ne, Soul.." Maka spoke, taking out one of his headphones. He never retorted on her for this. She was the only one allowed to do that. Anyone else did it and they got back-handed, right across the face.
"..what is it..?" He paused his music, right before Welcome to the Black Parade could start playing. He never wanted to miss a note of that song.
"Uh...Fuck, I forgot." She turned forward in the seat, thinking hard about what she was gonna say.
He laughed a little. "Well..If you remember it, grab my attention.." he put his headphones back in and played the song, leaning his head on the window and watching the scenery blur past.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
