'Why does she do that...?' was the only thing running through Soul's head as of right now.
A few answers to this question popped up, but they all seemed totally unlikely.
The music blasting through his headphones stopped playing unexpectedly, and when he looked at his phone, it was shutting down. He cursed under his breath and sighed. 'Well....Fuck..'
He slipped the Samsung into his back pocket and leaned against the window. It would be another half hour until they reached their destination. And even though Greyhound was fast, getting from Nevada to Florida was a long way.
By midnight, they had at least reached Texas, which was pretty good for one day. Neither of the two were asleep. Soul just couldn't sleep in a moving vehicle and Maka was practically nocturnal.
He leaned his head on the window, using his jacket as a headrest. He was too lazy to get his charger from his bag and plug it in, not considering the fact it was put away in the roof compartments.
"Ne, Soul.." Maka spoke up. "Do you ever stop to think that anyone really cares about you or anything...?"
He perked up at her question. That's something he never really thought about. "Well, not really...It's not something I have to think about.."
She blushed a little at his answer. "R-really..?"
He shrugged. "Yeah. Considerin' the one who asked that question is the only one who really cares.."
Maka's face went completely red at that. "O-oh..U-um..O-okay th-then.." she caught herself stammering again and Soul laughed slightly.
"You know, it's kinda cute when you do that.."
"..." Maka went to say something, but she was blushing so hard and trying to process what he had just said to her. "Wh-what do you m-mean..?" she managed.
"You know exactly what I mean. When you get all shy and start blushing and stammering like that. It's cute."
"S-soul.." she felt her face get even more read as she fell on his shoulder, unconscious.
He sighed. "Well damn..."
